He carries around a large, spiked wooden club as his weapon. Kudgel's name is derived from "cudgel", a word which either refers to a weapon or the action of "beating with a club." Kudgel strongly resembles [[Klubba]], though the relation between the two Kremlings is unknown. Unlike Klubba, Kudgel has gray skin instead of green, and is wearing yellow shorts. In official artwork and the [[Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)|remake]], Kudgel wears the same red shorts as Klubba.

Kudgel is the boss of the third area of [[Crocodile Isle]], Krem Quay. Kudgel is fought in the level "[[Kudgel's Kontest]]." Kudgel attacks [[Diddy Kong]] and [[Dixie Kong]] by leaping through the air and trying to smash down on them. The [[Kong]]s must carefully dodge Kudgel's jumps.
 
After a few jumps, Kudgel will land and swing his club. He then performs a short jump that causes a [[TNT Barrel]] to appear. The TNT Barrel must be thrown at Kudgel quickly or he will jump away; if the Kongs try to throw the TNT Barrel at Kudgel after he jumps away, or get too close while carrying the TNT Barrel, he'll block the TNT Barrel with his club. Every time Kudgel is hit with a TNT Barrel, he will jump increasingly lower and faster.


In ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest'', Kudgel is fought in the boss level, [[Kudgel's Kontest]]. He attacks [[Diddy Kong]] and [[Dixie Kong]] by jumping up then trying to land on them. When landing, Kudgel creates a brief earthquake, temporarily stunning the [[Kong]]s if they are on the ground. After jumping up then landing a few times, Kudgel stomps and a [[TNT Barrel]] falls on the arena. Kudgel can be hurt from Diddy or Dixie throwing throwing the TNT Barrel at him. However, Kudgel can block the TNT Barrel using his club if it is either thrown too close to him or when he jumps away. Kudgel moves around faster after each hit. After three hits, Kudgel begins to jump in an arc. After doing so, he stomps the ground again, causing a TNT Barrel to appear. Kudgel jumps in an arc more quickly after each hit. After being hit by a sixth TNT Barrel, Kudgel blasts away into the swamp waters, defeated. In the ending's Cast of Characters, Kudgel is classified as part of the [[Barnacled Bosses]].
After being hit by three TNT Barrels, Kudgel's jumps will start creating shockwaves that stun the Kongs if they get hit. These shockwave jumps are followed by a short jump that causes another TNT Barrel to appear. Kudgel will speed up each time he gets hit by a TNT Barrel.


Kudgel is ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest''{{'}}s only boss absent from ''[[Donkey Kong Land 2]]'', because [[Kleever]] was chosen as the boss of the merged world, [[Krem Cauldron]].
After being hit by six TNT Barrels, Kudgel will be blasted into [[Krem Quay]]'s swamp water.

*Kudgel's scream is a slowed down, lower-pitched version of [[Klobber]]'s scream. In the Game Boy Advance version, his sound effect is recycled from [[Chunky Kong]] in ''[[Donkey Kong 64]]''.
