Kritters are a common type of Kremling. Kritter is found in almost all games in the Donkey Kong series. Kritters are the most common of Kremlings and are the foot soldiers of the Kremling Krew, a role similar to that of the Koopa Troopas from the Mario series. Kritters come in a variety of colours.
Kritters, also named Kremlings, are enemies introduced in Donkey Kong Country. These Kremlings act as the main footsoldiers of the Kremling Krew, led by King K. Rool, and sometimes are representatives of the Kremlings in general. Some walk on the ground while others bounce around. Kritters in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2 have the alias of Klomps, which have peg legs, as well as Kaboings, which move on two peg legs, replacing the bouncing variety. Kritters are replaced in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III with Kobbles, and the jumping variety with Re-Koils.

Kritters first appeared in Donkey Kong Country where, along with Gnawtys and Zingers they were the most common enemies. Regular green Kritters (oddly recolored purple in the GameBoy Advance remake of the game) would attack by simply walking into the Kongs, whereas other colors can jump at the Kongs.
Kritters appear in Donkey Kong Country. They are colored green and move left or right only. The brown, blue, and yellow, and gray varieties all jump, particularly without moving, going in a single direction, in a set motion, and performing a few hops before a high jump, respectively. Kritters are defeated from either being stomped, rolled into, being hit by a barrel, or from a Hand Slap. Kritters are purple in the Game Boy Advance remake, but are depicted with their stock artwork for their photograph.

In pre-production, Kritters were intended to be small enemies; their role in the final was seemingly combined with the unused "Klanger," simply described as a "Green Kremling."

Kritters are very common. In the original version, Kritters appear in the following levels, in the following colors:

Kritters are antagonists in the Donkey Kong Country television series. They are voiced by Lawrence Bayne. Kritters have their design from Donkey Kong Country, but their eyes are not connected and their tails are shorter. Many Kritters carry Klap-Blasters, which shoot miniature Klaptraps. Green Kroc, a minion of Kaptain Skurvy, is a Kritter.

Diddy Kong Racing / Diddy Kong Racing DS
A Kritter named Krunch appears in Diddy Kong Racing as the game's heavyweight racer, being the first time any Kritter is playable. A regular Kritter appears in the intro of the remake, spying on the Kongs with Krunch.

Donkey Kong 64
Kritters are enemies in Donkey Kong 64. They are encountered at Crocodile Isle, all worlds barring Fungi Forest and Creepy Castle, most Battle Arenas except for Jungle Japes's and Creepy Castle's, the minigames Kremling Kosh!, Mad Maze Maul!, Stash Snatch!, and Busy Barrel Barrage!. There is a red variety encountered in Frantic Factory, where they belch in a certain order for Lanky to memorize and replicate for a Golden Bananas, and the minigame Kremling Kosh!, worth two points instead of one like the regular type.

Kritters are in the boxing arena but cannot be fought. They wear tuxedos. Two are announcers and ring the bell to start the match between the Kongs and K. Rool. Some Kritters latter try to remove a light fixture stuck to K. Rool. In each countdown, Kritters always ring the bell when it counts up to 8, by pressing a red button on either side of the bell. Both Kritters slam a button at the same time, breaking it accidentally, after Tiny's round concludes.

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Kritters were replaced with Klomps, Kremlings that wear tattered red and white shorts and have a peg leg. Also another Kremling called Kaboing, whom had two peg legs replaced Donkey Kong Country's jumping Kritters. It has been surmised by some that Kaboings and Klomps are Kritters in pirate clothing, which is a safe assumption as Kritters have a large resemblance to these two enemies.
Kritters are goalies in Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged. They were replaced by Boom Booms in Mario Strikers: Battle League. Kritters wear a goalie outfit to reflect this. Kritters are unaffected by attacks except the strongest type, and they knock back player characters on contact. Kritters in Super Mario Strikers can deflect any Super Strikes that are not timed properly, and a Kritter with the ball can pass it; the game adds a robotic Kritter as the goalie of the Super Team. A Kritter is first seen in Mario Strikers Charged during the opening scene, blocking a Toad's Fire Meteor, consequently putting its hands on fire. As shown from the opening movie, Kritters are invulnerable to Skillshots, as well as all Super Abilities except Crystal Smash!, Fire Storm!, and Thunder Wham! (if it has the ball). Kritters in Mario Strikers Charged can kick away players if they either fail a Skillshot or kick too close to the goal. A Kritter can be controlled by the player to block Mega Strikes.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
Donkey Kong Country/Land 3
A Kritter is a playable character in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. Kritter's stats include balanced top speed, boost and agility, shared with his direct rival, Donkey Kong. Kritter's bongos are gray with a skull printed on the sides and spiked bands on the top and bottom. Kritter attacks other racers by swinging his tail around. If Kritter gets in 3rd or 2nd place after completing a cup, he sits and looks down, disappointed. If he places 1st, he sits down and laughs. Kritter can be seen in the Single Race cutscene along with Klump, Kalypso and Kass, standing in front of their respective rivals, Donkey Kong, Lanky Kong, Tiny Kong and Dixie Kong. In the Jungle Grand Prix cutscene, Kritter is seen catching up to Donkey Kong during a race, before both of them get surprised when Diddy Kong passes them.
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III, Kritters are once again replaced, this time by a type of Kremling called Kobbles who were surprisingly rare in the former game while extremely common in the latter. Jumping Kritters are also replaced with enemies called Re-Koils, who were orange and bounced on their tails.

Super Smash Bros. series
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 3, Kritters appear as enemies in Funky Kong's mini-games. Here the kongs will have to avoid attacking Kritters while doing a task (such as moving explosive mines), though sometimes the Kongs will have to race and/or battle Kritters.
SmashWiki

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Kritters are only represented as trophies and two stickers in the former game. The first sticker, featuring artwork from DK: King of Swing, boosts launch resistance by 13, while the second sticker, featuring artwork from Mario Strikers Charged, boosts the power of direct special moves by 28. Both stickers can be used by any character.

Green and blue Kritters appear as enemies in the Smash Run mode of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. Green ones bite three times in a row, while blue ones spin around furiously with their claws.
Club Nintendo
A blue Kritter attacked Diddy and Donkey Kong in a cave in the Club Nintendo comic "Donkey Kong Country". He gets scared by Donkey's huge shadow, projected onto the wall by Squawks' torch. Donkey ultimately defeats him by throwing a Barrel at him. Like every character in the comic, the Kritter was able to speak.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Kritter from Donkey Kong Barrel Blast appears as a Novice-class Grab-type smashwiki with one support slot. When used on a fighter, the spirit boosts only their power without granting any special effect. In World of Light, the spirit is found on the DK Island sub-map of the Light Realm, occupying the spot where Ropey Rampage is located in Donkey Kong Country. The spirit's puppet fighter is King K. Rool, fought on the Kongo Jungle stage.
Donkey Kong Country TV show
Mario Super Sluggers
In the Donkey Kong Country animated series Kritters (voiced by Lawrence Bayne) occasionally appeared, here they had the same appearance as the ones in the Donkey Kong Country game, but with shorter tails and unconnected eyes. Green Kroc, a minion of Kaptain Skurvy was also a Kritter but, was oddly grayish in color (similar to the color of Kaboings).
Kritters are playable characters in Mario Super Sluggers. Green Kritter is the default color, with blue, red, and brown varieties appearing as alternate colors. All four Kritter colors are Power characters with batting and fielding at above average and running below average. The blue Kritter has a weaker batting stat to improve its pitching, and vice versa for red Kritter. The brown Kritter is the fastest of the four Kritter colors, but like the red Kritter, its pitching is weaker than the default green Kritter's. Every Kritter bats with their left hand and fields with their right hand. The sweetspot is the spike on the center of the mace. Their signature ability, Keeper Catch, grants them more reach while fielding. When they bat, they use a short, but broad spiked mace. They have good chemistry with King K. Rool, but incompatible chemistry with any of the Kongs, even though they are members of the DK Wilds.

The Kritters, Wario, and Waluigi are tied with having the lowest amount of good chemistry in Mario Super Sluggers, with them having good chemistry with only Miis of their color and one other character (with that character in their case being King K. Rool).
Diddy Kong Racing
In Diddy Kong Racing, a single Kritter named Krunch appears. At first Krunch is sent to Timber's Island to investigate why Diddy Kong went there and to figure if he and his friends are plotting some sort of anti-Kremling campaign, but eventually Krunch ends up aiding Diddy and his pals in their adventure to defeat the evil Wizpig. Interestingly in Donkey Kong 64 all Kritters encountered wear the exact same skull-and-crossbones jacket as Krunch.

Unused appearances
Donkey Kong 64
Diddy Kong Pilot
As mentioned above, Kritters appear in Donkey Kong 64 as semi-common enemies. In this game all Kritters wear leather jackets with a skull-and-crossbones emblem on it. Here Kritters attack the Kongs by punching and biting also several unnamed variants of Kritters such as, a wind-up robotic Kritter, a Kritter in a mushroom costume, and a Kritter using a bed-sheet to disguise itself as ghost, appear in this game. The Kritters in this game appeared skinnier and had less muscles.

Two different canceled games named Diddy Kong Pilot, one from 2001 and one from 2003, would have included a Kritter with a leather jacket as a playable character. Although this character is simply called "Kritter" in the 2003 build, the model bears a strong resemblance to Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing; in the 2001 build, the internal name for the character when highlighted on the selection screen is Krunch's early name "Krash", while the DKP 2001 Hud.png uses the name "Krunch". Kritter has a Southern American English accent in the 2003 iteration. When it became Banjo-Pilot, Kritter was replaced with Jolly Roger, with the two characters sharing similar stats.

General information
DK: series
Physical appearance
Kritters (simply called Kremlings here) also appear in DK: King of Swing, here they are given a new appearance. Kritters/Kremlings here can swing from pegs like Donkey Kong and will sometimes attack by throwing things such as rocks and bombs. Kritters/Kremlings are also playable in the games Jungle Jam Mode after unlocking six gold medal in said mode.
Kritters are most commonly colored green while still having several color varieties. Kritters originally had gold shoulder pads, knee pads and a bluish-green skin tone, though various other color variations appeared too, such as purple and burgundy. In Donkey Kong 64, they have a bright green skin tone and are slightly less muscular. Kritters wear a sleeveless leather jacket with a skull-and-crossbones on the back (similar to Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing) and a belt with a skull-and-crossbones buckle. This appearance is reused in Mario Power Tennis and is similar to their Super Mario Strikers appearance.

Starting with DK: King of Swing, Kritters received another redesign. They are significantly more muscular, especially in their chest and arms, and have a rounder snout and head. Their redesign also includes tattered tan pants and spiked wristbands. They still retain their skull belt from Donkey Kong 64.
Kritters also appeared in DK: Jungle Climber where they had the same attacks in their previous appearance.

As of Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast and Mario Super Sluggers, Kritters are significantly more muscular, especially in their chest and arms, with a rounder snout and head. Their current design also consists of tattered tan pants and spiked wristbands, and having the same skull themed belt as in Donkey Kong 64.

Notable Kritters
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
*Green Kroc
Originally, Kritter's trophy stated that its other appearance is Donkey Kong 64, but this was removed from Western world releases.
*Kalypso
*Kass
*Kip
*Krunch

Kritter's goalie trophy says that they are the only goalies in Super Mario Strikers. This is not true, as the Super Team uses a Robo-Kritter as their goalie in that game. In Mario Strikers Charged, however, they are the only available goalkeepers.

*Sweet spot: The spikes on the mace.
*Collectible card info: Despite his large, imposing figure, Kritter doesn't have the same dominant power as his boss, King K. Rool. But he is an above-average hitter and has a reliable fastball when he's on the mound.
