In chapter 4 of [[Super Mario-kun Volume 4|volume 4]], Mario and [[Yoshi]] are sent to the world of ''[[zeldawiki:The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past|The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past]]''. During the adventure, Yoshi is [[Shield Yoshi|turned into a shield]] and Mario is in possession of the Kinoko Sword. Later, when fighting [[zeldawiki:Agahnim|Agahnim]], Mario receives some Super Mushrooms from [[Luigi]] that power-up the Mushroom Sword into the Master Kinoko Sword, with which Mario is able to defeat the sorcerer.

The descendant hands Mario a Mushroom that was passed down in the family for generations, only for him to discover that it is the Master Kinoko Sword and defeat Ludwig with it.
