King Zing is a large Zinger who is the fourth boss of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and the third boss of Donkey Kong Land 2, as the boss of Krazy Kremland.
King Zing (Japanese: キングB, King B) is the boss of Krazy Kremland in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. He appears in the levels Rambi Rumble and King Zing Sting. When Diddy and Dixie Kong first enter the level, they see a Squawks Barrel that they must jump into to transform into Squawks and fight King Zing.

History
Rambi Rumble
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
King Zing appears near the end of the level. Here, he begins to chase Diddy and Dixie, who have transformed into Rambi, upon reaching his location, and chases him until he reaches the end of the level.

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, King Zing is first encountered toward the end of Rambi Rumble, where he starts chasing the player character, in this instance, Rambi. King Zing can neither be attacked nor jumped on by Rambi. The theme that plays during the chase is titled "Run, Rambi! Run!". There is an oddity in the original version where King Zing's stinger is missing while in Rambi Rumble, though the remake adds it, but without it flashing red. King Zing stops at a wall just before the End of Level Target, and he is then fought in the following boss level. King Zing the first boss in the Donkey Kong Country series fought by an Animal Friend, since the Kongs have to first enter a Squawks Barrel to transform into Squawks. King Zing moves around the arena in a set pattern. King Zing can be attacked from having one of Squawks's egg projectiles hit his red-flashing stinger. When hit by an egg, he flashes red for a few seconds, indicating temporary invincibility, before returning to normal. King Zing moves increasingly faster each time he is hit. When hit again, King Zing turns red and follows Squawks around, shooting out three separate sets of stingers in all directions, before returning to his normal state and route. King Zing becomes a regular red Zinger after six hits and summons four yellow Zingers to guard and surround him. Following this, King Zing moves after Squawks for the remainder of the battle. Defeating every Zinger surrounding King Zing causes him turn yellow, leaving him open to attack. After taking three hits as a regular Zinger, King Zing is defeated.

In the Game Boy Advance version, King Zing moves slower during the boss fight, although he fires out his stingers faster (which also make a single sound effect per blast rather than an echoing sound). While angry, he flashes between yellow and red rather than staying a solid red. He also requires an additional hit in his last phase as a normal Zinger to be defeated.
King Zing Sting
In order for Squawks to score a hit on King Zing, he has to hit King Zing's stinger with his eggs. After an egg hits King Zing, he starts to flash yellow and red before returning to normal, resuming his normal patrol around the level, but going a little faster. If Squawks hits him again, he turns red and starts chasing Squawks while shooting out stingers in all directions three times before returning to his normal state.

Donkey Kong Land 2
After Squawks hits him in the stinger a few more times, he transforms into a normal Zinger and turns red and shield himself with four yellow Zingers that surround him. King Zing then starts to chase Squawks again. Squawks has to defeat all four of the Zingers. Once they are all defeated, King Zing becomes a yellow Zinger and it takes three more hits to finally defeat him. If he isn't quick enough at defeating all of them, the yellow Zingers then regenerate.

In Donkey Kong Land 2, though King Zing does not appear in Rambi Rumble, he is still fought in King Zing Sting at the end of Krazy Kremland. The battle with King Zing proceeds similarly as before. However, after being hit, King Zing does not fire stingers; instead, he becomes temporarily invincible and homes in on Squawks, before returning to his normal zigzag flight pattern. Just like before, King Zing moves faster after each hit. After being hit a few times, King Zing begins to summon normal Zingers, which move around while behind him temporarily. King Zing is defeated after five hits.

Profiles and statistics
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, King Zing is hardly changed. The only differences are that King Zing is slower and his stingers are faster. Also, his stingers in the remake only make one sound per blast, instead of a continuous sound.

*Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong show a shocked expression before they fight a boss.  However, they do not express shock when facing King Zing.

*Oddly, Screech's theme song plays in the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 2, while King Zing is chasing Rambi through the stage, despite that the original song is still present in the sound test menu. It is unknown if this is a mistake or if it is intentional.
