King Boo is a non-playable character in Mario Party 8. He is the proprietor of the board King Boo's Haunted Hideaway. He hides in one out of three altars and gives a Star to whoever can find him in exchange for ten Coins. King Boo returns the player to the starting point from a Warp Pipe through "summoning the bizarre" after they purchase the Star while also altering the layout of the board, which also ejects any other players from the board. If the player does not have enough coins, or declines his Star, King Boo causes a pitfall to appear beneath them, returning the player to the starting point without any Star, and he does not shuffle the board. There are purchasable King Boo sounds from the Fun Bazaar, along with a figurine titled "King Boo's Revenge". When the player presses wii on the figurine during the Figurine Parade, King Boo floats upward while glowing. During the board event, Pickpocket Pinball, if the player does not manage to steal anything, the hosting mouse gives off a sound similar to King Boo's.
