Kabooms are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They commonly appear in the later worlds, especially the Lost World and K. Rool's Keep, though Kabooms first appear in the Gloomy Gulch level, Ghostly Grove. Their behavior is shared with Klobbers: they both hide in their barrel, then pop out when Diddy and Dixie get close, and run after them in an attempt to hurt them. Kabooms' TNT Barrels are distinguishable from normal ones, because the "N" of TNT is flipped. This is fixed after Diddy or Dixie jumps on it. The only major difference that Kabooms have from Klobbers is that a Kaboom's barrel explodes when it crashes into the lead Kong, with the resulting TNT blast defeating both of them. A Kaboom can more safely be defeated from either having a projectile thrown at it, such as a barrel or a kannonball, or from being jumped on and thrown like a regular TNT Barrel. When jumped on, a Kaboom re-emerges shortly after, unless the Kongs quickly grab it. Kabooms also get defeated if they run onto the spikes in Klobber Karnage, but they do not explode. Kabooms are one of the few entities absent from the end credits, but the Game Boy Advance version rectifies this by listing one with a Klobber.
