Walking on all fours, he creeps towards Blue Yoshi to attack him and Baby Mario. After walking on all fours for some time, he stands up and runs in Blue Yoshi's direction and lunges at him. Hookbill can take damage from [[Yoshi's Egg|egg]]s being thrown at either his head or arms. Hookbill coughs up eggs for Blue Yoshi to use if either his head or shell is stomped. After four hits while on all fours or after three hits while on two legs, Hookbill will fall backwards, leaving his belly vulnerable to being [[Ground Pound|ground pounded]] and damage. Hookbill then retreats into his shell to start pounding the ground, though this also occurs after a period of time.
