'''Hookbill the Koopa''' is a [[List of bosses|boss]] introduced in ''[[Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island]]''. He is an enlarged [[Koopa Troopa|red Koopa Troopa]].

A similar boss called [[Knot-Wing the Koopa]] appears in ''[[Yoshi's Woolly World]]'' and ''[[Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World]]'', as a recurring middle boss in even-numbered worlds. Knot-Wing is essentially a [[Koopa Paratroopa]] enlarged in the same fashion as Hookbill. Additionally, [[Kent C. Koopa]] from ''[[Paper Mario]]'' resembles a bespectacled version of Hookbill.

Hookbill the Koopa is the main boss of [[World 4 (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)|World 4]] in ''Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'' and [[Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3|its remake]], where it resides atop the [[Hookbill The Koopa's Castle|castle of that world]]. When [[Yoshi (species)|Blue Yoshi]] and [[Baby Mario]] reach the area with Hookbill, they encounter a normal Koopa Troopa, whom [[Kamek]] suddenly casts his magic on to enlarge it into Hookbill the Koopa. Walking on all fours, he creeps towards Blue Yoshi to attack him and Baby Mario. After walking on all fours for some time, he stands up and runs in Blue Yoshi's direction and lunges at him. Hookbill can take damage from [[Yoshi's Egg|egg]]s being thrown at either his head or arms. Hookbill coughs up eggs for Blue Yoshi to use if either his head or shell is stomped. After four hits while on all fours or after three hits while on two legs, Hookbill will fall backwards, leaving his belly vulnerable to being [[Ground Pound|ground pounded]] and damage. Hookbill then retreats into his shell to start pounding the ground, though this also occurs after a period of time. After three hits, Hookbill's shell explodes and disappears, and Hookbill (with no shell and reverted to normal size) falls from the top of the castle in defeat.

Hookbill the Koopa makes a cameo appearance in the introduction to ''[[Yoshi's Island DS]]'', alongside the other castle bosses from ''Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'' during a recap of the events within said game.

Hookbill The Koopa is an antagonist in ''[[Tetris Attack]]''. He appears one of [[Bowser]]'s allies and speaks with a stutter. Hookbill The Koopa takes the role of Phoenix from the original ''{{iw|nwiki|Panel de Pon}}'' at Stage 9. Unlike the other characters, Hookbill is not assisted by anyone else.
