Hammer Chime is a boss minigame against Hammer Bro in Mario Party DS.
Hammer Chime is a boss minigame against Hammer Bro in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on "Hammer Time".

Overview
Gameplay
Each round begins with Hammer Bro hitting four colored drums randomly before releasing a musical note at the player. The player tries to copy the beat, otherwise they take damage from note, losing one of their five heart units. If the player plays the correct beat, the Hammer Bro gets hit by a charged musical note, inflicting a unit of damage. After three hits, Hammer Bro is defeated, and the player clears Toadette's Music Room and gains the second Sky Crystal.
The mini-game's objective is to follow the pattern.

The player is rewarded a collectible completing Hammer Chime a number of times in Free Play: "Toadette's Chair" on the first win; "Toadette's Piano" a second time; "Toadette's Timpani" a third time; "Hammer Bro's Hammer" a fourth time; and "Beaten Hammer Bro" a fifth time.
The player gets 5 Health Points and Hammer Bro has 3. Hammer Bro will hit four colored drums in order with his hammers, then release a music note to attack the player. Using the stylus, the player has to play the same drums in order before the music note hits them. If the player doesn't hit the same combination in time, they will lose a life. If the player manages to play them on time, then the charged Music Note goes back and hurts the Hammer Bro and he will lose a life. After three hits, the Hammer Bro vibrates slightly from the shock of the last strike, and collapses.

The player wins and clears the board challenge on Toadette's Music Room. They are also awarded Toadette's music chair as a trophy.

Rewards
When replaying the boss minigame in Free Play, the player can win a specific musical instrument trophies and other things based on how many times they have beaten this boss. Some of the rewards include for Second Win - Toadette's Piano, for Third Win - Toadette's Timpano and for Fourth Win - Hammer Bro's Hammer. After beating the game five times, they are awarded the defeated Hammer Bro.
