'''Halfpipe''' is a [[Snowboard]] [[Event]] that appears in the [[Wii]] version of ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii)|Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games]]''. The objective of the event is to score as many points as possible, with the event taking place on Cypress Mountain. [[Luigi]] appears taking place in this event in the game's opening, and the starting record for this event is held by [[Tails]] with a score of 40.000pt(s). [[Lakitu]] and [[Espio the Chameleon|Espio]] appear as a referees in this event. 

==Gameplay==
In this event, the player starts by selecting their character's snowboarding style, either regular or goofy, which affects the way the character stands on the snowboard. Once the event starts, the character will start making their way onto the halfpipe automatically, but the player can swing the Wii Remote down at the end of the countdown for their performance start to gain a speed boost when they make their way onto the halfpipe. Once on the halfpipe, the player can pick up speed by tilting their Wii Remote forward, which causes the character to lean forward, and steer by tilting it left and right to steer in the respective direction. The player can perform jumps by swinging the Wii Remote upwards, and can perform tricks if they swing upwards at the edge of the halfpipe. The closer to the edge of the halfpipe they are when they swing upwards, the more air time they will have and thus more time to perform tricks. The player's airtime is also affected by their speed as they approach the edge of the halfpipe, with greater speeds providing more airtime, and the angle the edge is approached at, with more direct angles giving better jumps. Once the character is in the air, the player can perform tricks by swinging the Wii Remote in various directions. The player scores points for each trick they successfully perform, with more points awarded for the more tricks they do. The player can also perform more advanced tricks that will score them more points by pressing buttons on {{button|wii|pad}}, which then prompts them to move the Wii Remote in a specific shape within a certain time. Doing so successfully will score the player points, however failing to do so will result in a miss and not score any points. These tricks can only be performed when the player has enough airtime. If the player successfully performs multiple tricks, they will receive a sped boost upon landing, however the player may crash if they are performing a trick when landing, which will lose them speed. Successfully landing multiple tricks in a row also gives the player bonus points, with the amount of points earned for each jump successfully landed increasing the more that are done. The player can also use {{button|wii|A}} once during the event to perform their special action, which gives the character a large speed boost. The character with the most points, up to a maximum of fifty, at the end of their performance wins the event.
