First appearance Super Mario (Super Mario Land 3) (1990)

Gorufuman Robo is the mascot of the Game Boy Club and the first antagonist of the first part of the Golf story arc in the Super Mario Land 3 manga. It is a human that, via the magic of Golf Daiō, is forced to wear a robot costume of an anthropomorphic golf bag, stuffed with real golf clubs. Of the victim, only the legs are visible. The human is brainwashed via wires into obeying all the orders of Golf Daiō, which includes sabotaging the rivals. During the second part of the story, Peach is turned in Peach Robo, however, her face can also be seen through the costume mouth. Also, she lacks the golf ball-eyepatch Gorufuman Robo had.

Before the story events, Golf Daiō trapped professional golfer Shanbo Ozaki in the costume (pantless, for some reason) and he has tricked all the interested people in joining the Game Boy Club by signing a contract, offering a quick match against him: in case of victory, there will not be a registration fee to pay, but unaware to them, losing will result in them becoming Golf Daiō's slave for life, and losing is guarantee thanks to the gadgets and sensors that helps Gorufuman do almost perfect swings and his cheating tactics.

When Mario and Peach try to join the golf club and fall for the scheme, they learn from the mascot himself what losing will lead to, after trying to take the defense of a mistreated caddie named Ayako (one of the scam's previous victims). Gorufuman Robo also takes joy in punishing people, spanking them with a paper fan in case of a foul. When Peach gets the punishment, Golf Daiō orders him to not harm her, but Gorufuman refuses to go against his protocol, but accepts to leave her be when she falls in the water obstacles, considering it a fair punishment. During the second hole, he attempts in using his extendable boots and a long driver to cut the long course short, but by rising a gust of wind while swinging the club, he gets distracted in seeing Peach's skirt lifting, he trips and breaks the club, resulting in a penalty and the ensuing punishment, much to Mario's joy. Gorufuman then tries to trick Mario into fouling again by hiding his and planting fake balls around, but his trick is exposed by Ayako and the slave-gardeners. He also tries to use a giant fan to hinder Mario and Peach's shots with the excuse of a strong wind, but the gardeners, once again, expose his trick.

Shanbo Ozaki
Shanbo Ozaki is freed from the Gorufuman Robo costume.

At the last hole, with even scores, Gorufuman is struck by lightning, fails his shot and Mario and Peach score a hole-in-one. Having lost, the costume comes down in pieces and Masashi is free from the Golf Daiō's control and runs to a golf tournament he is late to (still pantless).

In the second part of the story, Golf Daiō challenges Mario and transforms Peach in Peach Robo. She is not fully under the control of Golf Daiō, always changing from her personality to the rude attitude of Gorufuman. When Ayako wishes Mario good luck for the match, offering to help him as caddie, in a fit of jealousy, Peach Robo takes said role and orders Ayako to be Golf Daiō's caddie. At the first hole, Peach tries to help Mario, but her Peach Robo protocol sabotages him by passing the wrong club. Similarly, at the last hole, Peach is again driven by jealousy when seeing Mario flirt with some hula girls and, short-circuiting the protocol, she accidentally passes him a better club. Seeing this, Ayako tries to plead with Peach to override the protocol and, after a while, she manages to break free and help Mario by signaling him the location of the hole.
