Good Egg Galaxy is a cosmic location in the Super Mario franchise, first appearing in Super Mario Galaxy.

History
The Good Egg Galaxy is the second galaxy Mario must venture to in Super Mario Galaxy. It is the first galaxy within the Terrace dome. It is a galaxy which, unlike many of the others in the game, does not have a set theme such as ice or fire. Rather, it mainly consists of multiple small planetoids and a variety of different themes that usually contradict each other. Because of this, it is arguably the most 'true' galaxy with a pure space theme. The galaxy starts on a planet with a garden and a house on top and a castle at the bottom. Dino Piranha and King Kaliente are fought in this galaxy.
Super Mario Galaxy
Good Egg Galaxy is the second galaxy of Super Mario Galaxy. It is the first level within the Terrace dome. Most of the planets in this galaxy are lush and grassy, with some of them resembling food. Dino Piranha and King Kaliente are the bosses in this galaxy. Good Egg Galaxy has the most planets out of any other galaxy in the two Super Mario Galaxy games, having 19 accessible planets in total. The name of this galaxy is most likely a pun on "good egg", which means a reliable and pleasant person. Five planets from this galaxy are also included on the game cover.

The original E3 demo and gameplay footage mostly featured segments from Good Egg Galaxy, along with a mixed-in level from Space Junk Galaxy. The galaxy went through a few revisions before its final version, mostly involving planets getting redesigned or removed, as seen in the GDC 2007 Trailer. In the E3 2007 build of Super Mario Galaxy, Good Egg Galaxy was known as "Egg Planet Galaxy", which is its original Japanese name.

NOTE: Most planets in Super Mario Galaxy are nameless. Unless otherwise noted, all headers are informal descriptors.
Starting planet
The starting planet is a multi-sided planet. The first side is sunny and contains flowers, grasses and with Star Bits and Coins hidden in them. There is also a house with a tree on the right and two Electrogoombas guarding the area. There are two bridges, one on each side, that leads to the second side of the planet. Inside the house, there is a ? Coin which releases several s. After collecting all of the notes, a 1-Up Mushroom will appear. In "Luigi on the Roof", Luigi is located on top of the house.

The other side of the planet has many dead trees with Star Bits on their branches and a constant rain of them coming down from above. In the center of the planet, there is a giant tower with a special side without gravity and allows Mario to walk up it. At the end of the side, there is an Electrogoomba.
Starting Planet
The Starter Planet has two sides. One is green with a house on it, and the other is dark and has a tower on it. On the tower side the player can get lots of Star Bits.

In various levels, there will be Launch Stars placed in three different locations. In the missions "Dino Piranha", "Dino Piranha Speed Run" and "Luigi on the Roof", it can be found at the top of the tower and leads to the Boulder planet. In "A Snack of Cosmic Proportions" and "Purple Coin Omelet", the Launch Star is located at the top of three Pull Stars at the end of a stone walkway next to the tower. This leads to a maze of three planets, being the Pear planet, the Rock planet, and the Egg planet. Finally, in "King Kaliente's Battle Fleet", the Launch Star is on top of the house on the sunnier side of the planet and leads to the Tropic planets.
Pill Planet
The Pill Planet is shaped like a giant, transparent pill. It contains many obstacles and items, mainly Coins and Item Crystals. Atop the towering planet is a Launch Star that Mario can use to break out of the Pill Planet's glassy surface. This planet contains a 2D platforming area with variable gravity.

In early versions of the game, the planet looked drastically different. It had a more realistic house, a pine tree instead of a regular tree, and no stairwell leading up to the twisty walkway.
Magma Planet
{{multiple image

|align=center
This is where the boss battle against King Kaliente takes place. It consists of a hot lava pool with a shiny tar-like ring of ground around it. The rest of the planet is just simple hot rock. The planet is quite big compared to others like the Tropic Planet, since it needs to have a decently large size for the fight to be held. Underneath the Magma Planet is a rocky area with yellow rings on it like a target.

Peanut-shaped planet
The peanut-shaped planet is covered in mud and Ruby Rocks in "Dino Piranha" and "Luigi on the Roof". During "Dino Piranha Speed Run", the Ruby Rocks are replaced by Chomps. Mario can either dodge or destroy the Boulders with his Spin, but he cannot hurt the Chomps.

To get here, Mario must take a launch star from the starting planet. Mario must collect the five Star Chips found on the planet to create a Launch Star that takes Mario to the Bean planet.

This planet had a different color appearance when it was first seen, but it ends up appearing with a recolor in the final version of the game. It was originally supposed to be blue.
br

Bean-shaped planet
The bean-shaped planet is a small, grassy planet with one Piranha Plant and a few Slurples. On the bottom side of the planet, there is a ? Coin which creates many Star Bits leading back to the Piranha Plant.

Mario can reach this planet via the Launch Star from the Boulder planet. Mario can stomp or spin the Piranha Plant to defeat it. After being defeated, the Piranha Plant will release a Sproutle Vine, which allows Mario to climb to the Bitten Apple planet.

Many planets similar to this one can be found in other galaxies and in early versions of the game.

|image2=SMG Spiny Piranha Plant.png
|caption2=Mario finds a Spiny Piranha Plant on the planet.
}}
The bitten-apple planet, as its name indicates, resembles a green bitten apple, and marks a checkpoint. There are Ruby Rocks rolling all over the planet, and a large Spiny Piranha Plant on the top. In "Dino Piranha Speed Run", the Ruby Rocks are replaced with Chomps. In the middle of the planet, there is a black hole that makes Mario lose a life if he falls into it. If Mario stands on one of the bridges on the starting planet, he can see the bitten-apple planet and the Flipswitch planet. If Mario turns to a certain angle he can see a pipe but oddly, if he turns the other way, it disappears.

On this planet, the player can advance to the very end of the planet to battle the Spiny Piranha Plant, which will release a Sproutle Vine to the block-climb planet. The player can also go across a shrinking platform to use a Warp Pipe with a Piranha Plant in it to reach the Flipswitch planet.
br

Flipswitch planet
The Flipswitch planet is a planet covered in Flipswitch Panels. It also has a few red lifts with spikes on the sides that can hurt Mario, but he can also use them to carry him across the planet. This planet can be accessed via a Warp Pipe in the Bitten Apple planet. If Mario presses all of the Flipswitch Panels in the first area, the panels in the second area will appear. After activating all of them, a Launch Star leading to the Block-Climb planet will appear. This planet plays the Space Fantasy music.
br

Block-climb planet
The block-climb planet is a planet that can be accessed by either launching off a Launch Star in the Flipswitch planet or by taking the Sproutle Vine that comes out of the Spiny Piranha Plant on the bitten-apple planet. This planet marks a checkpoint and is a grassy oval with three stone blocks on it, and there are some Electrogoombas that are guarding them. There are some coins on the stone blocks, which serve as steps to the very top where a Launch Star can be found. This Launch Star takes Mario to the Dino-Geo planet. Behind the set of the three stone steps, there is a 1-Up Mushroom. The planet also contains a Luma and several Tracks.
br

Home of Dino Piranha
The Home of Dino Piranha is a small round planet and the last one visited during the missions "Dino Piranha" and "Dino Piranha Speed Run". Dino Piranha is fought on this planet.

The planet is a large brown oval with several yellow objects on the ground which releases coins when shot with Star Bits. There are several crystals with coins and star bits in them. On top of the planet is a giant egg that is automatically cracked open when Mario lands on the planet. Dino Piranha hatches, and the boss battle starts. After defeating Dino Piranha, a Power Star appears here. A similar planet appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2, in the Boss Blitz Galaxy. On that planet, Dino Piranha is fought once again as a returning boss.

Pear-shaped planet
Egg Planet
The pear-shaped planet is covered in grass that appears in "A Snack of Cosmic Proportions" and "Purple Coin Omelet". There are several Star Bits in the Crystals found on the planet along with a few Goombas and prickly plants. A Launch Star that takes Mario to the Rock planet (or the Egg Planet) can be found here.
One planet resembles a Yoshi Egg. This planet can be found in the mission known as A Snack of Cosmic Proportions, where a hungry Luma will await a feeding. There is also a green planet and a red planet which are part of a circle of launch stars with the Yoshi Egg Planet in A Snack of Cosmic Proportions
br

Boulder-shaped planet
Geo Planet
The boulder-shaped planet is a red craggy planet with Ruby Rocks rolling all over it. It is accessible via a Launch Star in the pear-shaped planet. The Launch Star on this planet takes Mario to the Egg Planet (or the pear-shaped planet). Like the previous planet, the boulder-shaped planet has some Crystals and a ? Block. There is also a Sling Star that can launch Mario into a coin.
The Geo Planet is a small planet where the Dino Piranha boss is battled. it is made of gravel and rock with hints of grass sticking out, much like a simple ball of earth mixed up together. There are Item Crystals on it with a few Coins in them.
br

Egg Planet
Boulder Planet
It is a yellow planet that resembles a peanut with little grooves where the boulders have been rolling. It has about 6 boulders that Mario must dodge and or break. It had a different color appearance when it was first seen, but it ended up appearing with a recolor in the final version of the game. It was originally blue.
The Egg Planet is ovoid and closely resembles a Yoshi's Egg. There are many Goombas on the planet. There are also several crystals that are found on the planet. The Launch Star on this planet leads back to the Pear planet (or the boulder-shaped planet). This planet is accessible via the Launch Star on the boulder-shaped planet.

On this planet, there is a Hungry Luma that transforms into a new planet when fed 100 Star Bits.
Star Planet
br
The last planet of the second star, Which resembles a Sling Star. To get to the star, the player must use Pull Stars to get to the Power Star in the centre.

Tower-shaped planet
Tower Planet
This planet requires jumping up cliffs to reach the top.
The tower-shaped planet is a planet that is made by the Hungry Luma on the Egg planet and is shaped like a giant mountain with many stone platforms on the other side. These platforms can help Mario jump up to get to the top. Prickly plants and Goombas are found on the planet. The flowers can be defeated by the rubbery bulbs. At the top of the stone platforms, there is a Launch Star that leads to the capsule-shaped planet.

An almost identical planet with the same name appears in the Yoshi Star Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, the only differences being that the planet in that galaxy is already present, and there are bones on the planet in the second game. When Mario is very far from the planet, it appears as a different low-poly egg-shaped planet, which was likely originally in place of the tower-shaped before getting added.
Flip Switch Planet
The capsule-shaped planet is the largest planet in the Good Egg Galaxy. It is shaped like a giant vitamin capsule with many enemies and obstacles on the inside including different sections where the gravity is shifted around. Red goes away from the core, and blue goes towards it.

This planet is reached via the Launch Star on the tower-shaped planet, and marks a checkpoint. When Mario first arrives here, he will be on the transparent coating of the planet. He has to destroy the crystal to get inside. After making his way through the obstacles, another Launch Star will blast him through the glass and to the final planet of the mission; the star-shaped planet.
Levels
br
Dino Piranha
Mario starts this level on a planet with a grassy scene and a house on one side and a dark tower on the other side. At the top of the tower is a Sling Star which propels Mario into a Launch Star. This sends him to the Boulder Planet, where five Star Chips are scattered. The player will have to dodge the boulders and collect the Star Chips to create a Launch Star. Mario lands on a small planet with a Piranha Plant. Mario must defeat the plant to make a sproutle grow. Mario must Star Spin up it. Next Mario must climb the stones on the next planet to the Launch Star. Mario will launch and slam into a giant egg, which will begin to move around. After Mario does a Star Spin on the ball on the end of it's tail, it will hit the egg and break it, revealing Dino Piranha. It must be defeated to get the star.

Star-shaped planet
A Snack of Cosmic Proportions
This level involves feeding a Hungry Luma one hundred Star Bits, so the player should pick up as many as possible. When Mario is exploring this planet, he must hop up the stone stairs on the tower side of the planet and he should talk to the blue Luma. It'll transform into Pull Stars which lead to a Launch Star. This leads Mario to a set of three planets connected by Launch Stars. The planet that resembles a Yoshi Egg is the one that has the the hungry Luma. Mario can use the Launch Stars to travel around the three planets as much as he wants to fulfill the Luma's quota of Star Bits. The player must talk to the hungry Luma after getting 100 Star Bits, and it'll explode with snacky happiness and create a new planet and Launch Star. The player must climb up the structure on this new planet to reach the Launch Star at the top, which will launch Mario to the Pill Planet. One of the crystals on this planet covers the entrance, so the player must smash it to get inside. The player will enter a 2D platforming area, so Mario must head through it carefully. The top of the planet contains a Launch Star. Mario will finally end up on a star-shaped structure with blue Star Chips and the Power Star in the middle. The player has to collect the blue Star Chips to create Pull Stars, which will aid Mario in grabbing the Power Star. The player could also use a long jump to get the star without collecting the blue star chips.
The last planet of the second mission, which resembles a Sling Star. Mario must collect Blue Star Chips to create some Pull Stars. Mario must then use the Pull Stars to get to the Power Star in the center of the planet, though he can simply Long Jump and perform a Spin to get to the Star.
br

Oasis-like planets
King Kaliente's Battle Fleet
Mario starts on the same planet as he did on the previous two missions. The Launch Star is on the top of the house, and it is possible for the player to triple jump to the top of it, or else Mario can take the red Warp Pipe on the underside of the planet and traverse the boxy room to reach the Launch Star. The Toad on this planet tells Mario that the spiky plants hate coconuts. Mario will have to kick the coconuts into the plants, and one will reveal a Sling Star. The next planet has a large Pokey, which can also be defeated by kicking a coconut at it, revealing a Launch Star. The next planet has a Sling Star which propels Mario to a planet full of electrical walls. The player must carefully avoid the walls to reach the other side of the planet, where cannons shoot Bullet Bills. The Launch Star is in a crystal at the top of the structure on this planet. As Mario is launched onto a airship, two creatures will shoot coconuts at Mario from an adjacent airship. Mario will have to do a Star Spin to send the coconuts back at them to defeat them, which lowers the bridge between the two ships. The Launch Star on this airship that takes Mario to King Kaliente's planet.
The oasis-like planets are a pair of planets with prickly plants and coconuts that can be put to different uses depending on which planet Mario is on. The planets are made up of a combination of sand and grass with scattered palm trees and crates. On the first planet, there are multiple prickly plants which Mario can destroy with a coconut, but to access the next planet, he must destroy a giant prickly plant at the top to make a Sling Star appear. The second oasis-like planet has several Goombas and a Pokeynut. When the Pokeynut comes to the surface, Mario must hit its head with a coconut or hit its body, which will destroy a body segment and lower its head closer to the ground. After doing this, a Launch Star will appear to send Mario to the Chomp Saucer planet. The first oasis-like planet is accessed by blasting off the Starting Planet in "King Kaliente's Battle Fleet".

Small ocean planets
Dino Piranha Speed Run (Speedy Comet)
This level is the same as the original Dino Piranha level, except that the player has to beat the mission in 4 minutes.
The small ocean planets are small rocks surrounded by water which float all around the oasis-like planets. They are inaccessible during the regular levels, but, through hacking, Mario can visit them as they have their own gravity field. Other than that, they are mostly for ambience while Mario soars past them on his way to the oasis-like planets.

Asteroid-shaped planet
Purple Coin Omelet (Purple Comet)
In this level, the player has to collect 100 purple coins to get the Power Star. Mario must traverse through the galaxy and collect these coins using launch stars.
The asteroid-shaped planet is a small, optional, planet accessible from the Chomp Saucer planet with two Chain Chomps rolling around it. Mario can enter a Warp Pipe in this planet, which leads to the inside; a room with many Goombas, Micro-Goombas, and a Rainbow Star. In the early version of the game, there were several planets similar to this planet. If accessed outside of the mission it is normally visited through external means, the bonus room is not loaded, causing Mario to fall into space if he enters the pipe.
br

Saucer-shaped planet
Luigi on the Roof
{{multiple image
After Mario saves Luigi from the Ghostly Galaxy, Luigi will go to the Good Egg Galaxy to search for a Power Star. Shortly after, the Mailtoad informs Mario that Luigi is lost and shows Mario a picture of Luigi's location. Mario needs to go to the first misson of the Good Egg Galaxy and needs to save Luigi who is on the top of the roof of a house. Mario accomplishes this by going to the bottom side of the 2 sideded, bright and dark planet by jumping in the yellow Warp Pipe, and then into the next yellow Warp Pipe. Luigi gives Mario his Power Star. You can also do a backflip or Triple Jump onto it.

The saucer-shaped planet is a large grass-covered planet that is accessed from the oasis-like planets and has a crystal containing a Launch Star at the very end of it. This Launch Star leads to the airships. Enemies on this planet include Electrogoombas, Bill Blasters, Chomps in two sizes, Amps and burners. There are electric barriers placed throughout the planet that has to be crossed. Once Mario reaches the end, a Launch Star will take him to King Kaliente's fleet.
br

Airships
Foreign Names
{{foreignname|
There are two airships floating in space which are both commanded by King Kaliente. The first airship is accessed from the Launch Star on the saucer-shaped planet, and marks a checkpoint. There are two Roctos firing coconuts at it from the second ship. If Mario defeats both of them, the bridge is opened.
|Jap=エッグプラネットギャラクシー<br>Eggu Puranetto Gyarakushii

At the end of the bridge, there is a Sling Star that leads into the main section of the ship with several Electrogoombas. If Mario takes the Launch Star located on this ship, he will travel to the lava-filled planet.
br

King Kaliente's planet
King Kaliente's planet is a large stone UFO-shaped planet with a pool of lava in the middle. In the level "King Kaliente's Battle Fleet", King Kaliente appears here as the boss. He emerges from the lava and fires coconuts and fireballs at Mario.

The planet is mostly made up of black tar and rock mixed together by the gigantic pool of hot lava in the middle. This planet is larger than other planets like the oasis-like planets. Underneath the Magma planet, there is a rocky area with yellow rings on it, similar to a target. This also resembles a chocolate donut. When the planet is not normally visited, the lava is not loaded, and since the "floor" of the pool is not rendered, the planet can be looked through from the top.

|description1=All of Mario's missions in the Good Egg Galaxy start here. It's the first stop in a planet-hopping mission to complete a Launch Star. This planet is not all it seems however. Defy gravity by running from the sunny top to the dark and shadowy bottom. Watch for Electrogoombas while you collect Star Bits and Coins. Mario will visit this planet multiple times in his adventures to defeat bosses and acquire Power Stars—even to rescue his brother, Luigi!

He should also avoid running into their ruts, since they slow him to a snail's pace. The best way to handle these rumbling menaces is to spin into their red surface areas to destroy them.

He spies a giant walking egg with a tail sticking out—definitely something to be investigated. Spin Mario against the large ball on the end of the tail to crack open the shell. Out bursts Dino Piranha — the boss of this world, who Mario must battle to gain the first Power Star in the Good Egg Galaxy.

This galaxy's theme, titled "Egg Planet", is reused in the original game when Mario and Princess Peach are whisked away with the final Grand Star.

The music was later reused in the Grandmaster Galaxy mission "The Perfect Run" in Super Mario Galaxy 2, along with the music from Gusty Garden Galaxy, Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, and the Comet Observatory. A cover of the music can also be found in World 1's map after Green Star comets appear.

Part of Good Egg Galaxy's music returns in Mario Kart Wiis Rainbow Road music. An arrangement of Good Egg Galaxy's music appears as one of the selectable songs that can be played during events in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Both the original version of the song as well as a new arrangement by Noboku Toda are featured in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Trivia
Trivia
*The galaxy's level select model has a hemispherical grassy dirt planet that is not found anywhere in the galaxy. This planet actually goes unused within the files of Super Mario Galaxy, but textured with blue dirt instead of brown dirt. Its filename also indicates that the planet was made for Space Junk Galaxy, despite its presence in Good Egg Galaxy's level select model.
*Unlike most galaxies, it gets its name from a single planet.
*On some planets, such as the Chomp Saucer planet, a multicolored cube planet can be seen in the distance out in space beyond the Tropic planets, while on the third mission a tiny spherical planet can be seen beyond the Flipswitch planet. The first is actually the location in which the orange Warp Pipes on the Starting Planet lead to, while the second is the one where the green pipe on the Asteroid planet leads to. Another cube planet is visible in the Deep Dark Galaxy (mainly in the third mission), while a similar spherical planet can be seen in the Toy Time Galaxy. In most galaxies, these are hidden behind small skyboxes (as is the case with the Deep Dark Galaxy's first two missions), larger planets, or simply a large enough distance to keep them from rendering.
*It is notable that the original e3 demo and gameplay footage mostly featured segments from the Good Egg Galaxy, along with a mixed-in level from the Space Junk Galaxy.
*Gusty Garden Galaxy originally had Good Egg Galaxy's background.
