Glow Blocks are white [[block]]s with eyes similar to those on [[Rotating Block]]s from ''[[Super Mario World]]''. These blocks emit light that [[Mario]] and the other characters can use to illuminate [[dark]] areas. The characters must carry them in order to explore different areas with the help of the blocks' light. To pick up a Glow Block, the player must shake {{button|wii|Wiimote}} and press and hold {{button|wii|1}} at the same time. A Glow Block can also be used as a projectile, by throwing it to the enemies, in a similar fashion to ''[[Super Mario Bros. 2]]''{{'}}s physics. If a player character is on [[Yoshi]], the latter can eat a Glow Block and carry it with him that way. Glow Blocks appear in [[World 2-5 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 2-5]], {{world link|5|ghosthouse|World 5-Ghost House (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)}}, [[World 6-6 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 6-6]], and [[World 8-4 (New Super Mario Bros.
