Giant Vegetables, or Huge Vegetables, are a much larger variant of regular Turnip introduced in BS Super Mario USA. Due to their size, they take longer to pluck and can hit more enemies.
Big Turnips are an item introduced in Super Mario Advance. They are a much larger version of regular Turnips.

History
Overview
BS Super Mario USA
Big Turnips are very similar to regular Turnips, the only real difference is that it can hit enemies that are further because of how large it is. Big Turnips sometimes replace what were originally regular Turnips in the original Super Mario Bros. 2. Also, it takes a lot longer for Mario to pick up Big Turnips compare to other items that can be picked up in Super Mario Advance because of its large size.
In BS Super Mario USA, Giant Vegetables are thrown in threes by an angry PP; these can also hit the player. The villains can also do this, though their veggies are black with angry faces on them.

Design
Super Mario Advance
The design of a Big Turnip is very similar to the regular Turnip that has a face, except it is way larger.
In Super Mario Advance, Giant Vegetables sometimes replace what were originally regular Turnips in the original Super Mario Bros. 2.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Giant Vegetables return in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, in World-e levels such as Vegetable Volley. They can also be found in the main game levels upon the player scanning the Blue Green Switch; they typically appear in Giant Land.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake, during the Wiggler boss battle, two Leaf Guys can appear on the upper screen, carrying a Giant Vegetable to toss against Bowser. If he vacuums them before they can, the Giant Vegetable will land on the Wiggler, completely turning him calm.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Giant Vegetables reappear in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its ports as part of the battles against Wingo, who summons them to hit Captain Toad, but they can be plucked and thrown back at Wingo to defeat him.
