The gold Gearmo is a minor character in Super Mario Galaxy 2. It sends a letter to Mario asking for help in the Boulder Bowl Galaxy. This letter opens the mission C'mere, Goomba. The gold Gearmo appears on the Boulder Planet, and Mario has to go talk to it. When Mario speaks with it, it tells him that it loves Goombas and requests that he needs to search for one. It then makes four pillars appear, and Mario has to get the Goomba to come in between them. They can also be broken open for Star Bits.

Gold Gearmo is a character in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is a Gearmo with a yellow body and a golden gear on its head. It first appeared in the Boulder Bowl Galaxy in the mission "C'mere, Goomba". It is found on the third planet in the mission Rock and Rollodillo. In the mission it is seeking someone to help him capture a Goomba in exchange for a Power Star he found in the trash. Apparently, he has great love for Goombas and enjoys collecting them and with Mario's help he managed to capture a new ferociously adorable one. After the mission is completed, Gold Gearmo can later be found at the tea table on the Starship Mario. When you talk to the Gearmo it will say "Thanks for the help back there!" and give you an extra life. If talked to again, it will say "I really dig those Goomba guys! Other than that, the Golden Gearmo does not have a major role in the game.
Once Mario finds and lures a Goomba into the square, the gold Gearmo becomes very happy, exclaims its delight for the captured Goomba, and thanks the player with a Power Star. After the mission, the gold Gearmo can be found on Starship Mario, where, when spoken to, it shares a 1-Up Mushroom with Mario as thanks for helping it. If the player speaks with the Gearmo after Mario collects the 1-Up Mushroom, the Gearmo will respond by saying, "I kinda dig those Goomba guys." For the rest of the game, it can be found having tea with the similar silver Gearmo, who collects Topmen.
