Some Gale Hawgs have tusks, making them difficult to attack head-on. A Gale Hawg can be defeated by using a sound wave, and then repeatedly punching it while it is dazed. Gale Hawgs are fairly common in front of tunnels and near pits to make their gales a threat to the player. Like most large pig enemies, the Gale Hawg hurts the player if they collide with their tusks. Gale Hawg later reappears in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' as a [[Sticker (Super Smash Bros. Brawl)|Sticker]].
