'''Boo Lake''' is the second race of the [[Flower Cup]] in ''[[Mario Kart: Super Circuit]]''. It is, unlike the name would imply, a pier with a lot of gaps, like the [[Ghost Valley]] courses from ''[[Super Mario Kart]]''. Boo Lake contains a considerable amount of [[Coin]]s and [[Item Box]]es. There are [[Boo]]s which hold lanterns on this course. If the player falls off of the track, contrary to what the course's name indicates, they do not fall into water and instead into a pit. There is a bridge that flickers, making it hard to see on the part where the path splits around a hole with the bump on it, to the right of this area. The course shares its music with [[Broken Pier]], part of which is an arrangement of the music used for the Ghost Valley courses from ''Super Mario Kart''.

The course appears as a [[classic course]] in ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'' starting with the [[Halloween Tour (2022)|2022 Halloween Tour]] and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' as the second course of the [[Rock Cup]] in the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]''.

===Course layout===
The course begins with a 90° turn to the right followed by two sets of wide [[Dash Panel|speed strips]] that each lead into jump pads, allowing racers to jump over a pair of large gaps. Upon landing, racers take another 90° right turn followed by a 45° right turn and a 45° left turn. The path then briefly splits and racers must go left or right, with the paths being symmetrical. Once the paths join, racers encounter the first set of [[Item Box]]es followed by two 45° left turns and a 90° right turn. A sharp 135° right turn then leads into a long straightaway, where the track briefly becomes very narrow. At the end of the straightaway is a pair of Item Boxes followed by a 45° right turn and a U-turn to the left. Racers then go over a bump in the road and take a 45° left turn followed by five consecutive 45° right turns; the last item set lies just before the third turn and there are many small bumps in the road after the third turn. After the turns is one last straightaway, where racers encounter several small bumps as well as holes in the road which are preceded by jump pads. At the end of this straightaway lies the finish line.

===Shortcuts===
The first notable shortcut can be found just before the split paths. By going to the left of the track, the player can drive across a very narrow blue bridge, cutting off a turn. Alternatively, the player can use a [[Dash Mushroom|Mushroom]] to go off a jump pad in between the split paths and clear the gap.

Another notable shortcut can be found at the end of the long straightaway. By going to the left of the track, the player can drive across a narrow gray bridge, skipping the entire U-turn. Unlike the other bridge, this one is visible on the minimap.

==''Mario Kart Tour''==

Boo Lake makes its classic course debut in ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'' starting from the [[Halloween Tour (2022)|2022 Halloween Tour]]. The course now resembles the [[Ghost Valley|SNES Ghost Valley]] courses even more, and there are also more walls around the course compared to the original version. In addition to the manor and dead forest from the original, a few dilapidated fortress structures have been added into the background, along with clouds being added to the sky. Rather than taking place over a pit, the course now takes place on a large lake (as its name implies there always was), which is driven into, making this the second classic course in ''Mario Kart Tour'' to feature a newly added [[underwater driving|underwater]] section, the first one being [[GBA Cheep-Cheep Island]]. [[Fish Bone]]s act as obstacles in the lake section. A starting banner has been added featuring the classic ''Mario Kart'' logo held up by wooden posts. Many lamp posts have also been added to the course, replacing the candle-holding Boos in the original version. 

The layout is recreated relatively faithfully despite the new underwater sections and elevation changes, akin to [[GBA Snow Land]]. However, the bridge before the split path was removed and the turn leading to it was simplified to no longer have a diagonal portion. The turn after also begins immediately rather than there being a straightaway. The split path itself had its left side widened and the ramp on the gap has been removed. The bridge cut around the U-turn has been changed - there is now a gap in the wall where it originally was, with a small platform jutting out on the other side with [[barrel]]s blocking the way. The road leading up to the first jump now slopes downwards slightly, and the jumps themselves are now executed using regular ramps. There are also now [[Item Box]]es present in the air after the ramp.

The course also appears as '''Boo Lake R''' (reverse), '''Boo Lake T''' (with ramps), and '''Boo Lake R/T''' (reverse and with ramps). In all three variants, racers drive on an alternate path which is unused in the default variant despite appearing on the minimap. In the R/T variant, there is a [[Glide Ramp|glide ramp]] shortly after racers exit the water.

Like [[GBA Sunset Wilds]] and [[GBA Sky Garden]], this course received a new arrangement of its music. This course, along with [[SNES Donut Plains 3]], is the first classic course in ''Mario Kart Tour'' to debut with its R/T variant. Boo Lake is one of two courses in ''Mario Kart Tour'' whose minimap includes a section of the course that is not accessible on the main variant, alongside [[Tour Berlin Byways|Berlin Byways 2]]. In both courses, the exclusive sections are removed from the ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' versions.

Boo Lake makes its home console debut in ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' as part of Wave 3 in the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]''. It is the second course of the [[Rock Cup]]. The course is based on its ''Mario Kart Tour'' design, but with graphical updates; notably, the cartoonish clouds have been completely removed in favor of a more realistic sky.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iaCRaF8ET8]</ref> The ramps around the course have been redesigned to match the color scheme of the bridge. Wooden arrow signs have been added throughout the course. The broken bulbs in the lamp posts underwater have been removed.

Boo Lake is the first course in the Booster Course Pass to feature [[underwater driving]]. Additionally, the section beginning on the U-turn leading into the lake and the underwater portion of the course have been converted to an [[anti-gravity]] section. The Barrels blocking the shortcut have been replaced with the bush-shaped [[wooden cutout]]s from {{classic link|3DS|Piranha Plant Slide}}, and the shortcut itself is now off-road.

The alternate path that appeared in ''Mario Kart Tour'' for its variants was removed from the layout of this version, but its now-deteriorated scaffolding remains as decoration. Boo Lake is the only course in ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' to mark the end of an anti-gravity section with an [[Antigravity Panel]].

Internally, {{classic|GBA|Boo Lake}} is referred to as "Cnsw_33", implying it may have originally been intended to be the third course of the Rock Cup.
