Fury is a status effect in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story that can only be obtained by Bowser when he takes too much damage. When in this state, Bowser deals and receives more damage. The only way to cure this effect is to eat a Refreshing Herb or have a set amount of turns pass. While in the "Fury" status, Bowser's battle pose is different, he flashes red, and he shows more anger on his face. Bowser's power can increase to about twice as much as normal.

Fury is a status effect in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey that Bowser has a chance of obtaining after getting hit enough times during battle.

While under the effects of the Fury status, Bowser flashes red, clenches his fists, and shows a much angrier facial expression with gritted fangs and puffs of smoke spewing overhead. In this state in the original Nintendo DS version, the damage Bowser deals is doubled, he takes 1.1× damage from enemies, and he loses the ability to Flee from battle. The effects make it similar to a combination of POW-Up, DEF-Down, and Prohibited Command. To cure this effect, Bowser can eat a Refreshing Herb, let enough turns pass for it to expire, or defeat all of the enemies in the battle.

The exact mechanics behind obtaining the Fury status in the original Nintendo DS version is controlled by a variable that increases as Bowser gets hit. The variable starts at zero at the beginning of every battle. A hit (regardless of damage) increases the variable by two, while getting hit with the Fury Fangs equipment increases the variable by three. When the variable is at a minimum of 20, once at the end of an enemy's turn that Bowser got hit in, the variable is converted into a percent chance which is used to determine if Bowser gets the Fury status. For example, if the variable is at 20, then there is a 20% chance of Bowser getting the Fury status. If the chance failed, the value of the variable stays the same, allowing it to keep on increasing from further hits. If the chance succeeds, then the variable is reset to zero and Bowser is given the Fury status.<ref>{{cite

The variable starting at zero means that Fury is less likely to be seen in short battles, while it is more likely to be seen in long battles like boss fights.

In the remake, Bowser also goes into this status effect when he reaches low health during Mario and Luigi's fight against him in Toadley Clinic, and as soon as he does, he will fully heal himself with a Hot Drumstick (Bowser X does this too when fought in the Gauntlet).

In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, most of the bosses, along with Birdo in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (once Popple is defeated before her), Princess Shroob in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and Reclusa in Mario & Luigi: Brothership during the fourth phase of the fight, automatically obtain this status whenever their health is low enough. For the rest of the battle, they have more attacks, their POW and SPEED increase (alongside DEF in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey), and some bosses will perform multiple attacks in a single turn. In Bowser's case, he will fully heal himself with a Hot Drumstick. Regular enemies, such as Choombas, go through a similar phase when fired up by Coalbits, making them deal more damage, move faster, and glow red.
