Frost Piranhas first appeared in ''[[Paper Mario]]''. They are larger than the average Piranha Plant and are a sky-blue color. Like [[Putrid Piranha]]s, they face side-ways, which allows them to be jumped on. [[Mario]] first encountered Frost Piranhas while on his way to [[Starborn Valley]]. Along with being exceptionally strong, they had the ability to shoot icy blasts of breath that can [[Frozen|freeze]] Mario and his allies (although the blasts themselves won't hurt them). Frost Piranhas were later encountered on [[Shiver Mountain]] where they were less abundant.

Frost Piranhas reappear in ''Paper Mario''{{'}}s sequel ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]''. They can be found on the way to [[Fahr Outpost]] and were slightly stronger than before, but noticeably lacking their ice-breath ability. However, their bite could still freeze Mario or his partners if they did not perform a [[Guard]] move. Like their ''Paper Mario'' counterparts, they can burrow underground and pop up to attack. Unlike in the previous game, they cannot be jumped on in battle.

In ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'', one of [[Piranha Plant]]'s alternate color schemes is based on a Frost Piranha, but the stalk is yellow and the hand leaves are yellow and green. Also, it is mentioned briefly by [[icaruspedia:Viridi|Viridi]] during [[List of Palutena's Guidance conversations|Palutena's Guidance]] dialogue for Piranha Plant.
