Flurries (known as Nakabon in Japanese) are snowman-like creatures that appear in the icy regions from World 4 of Subcon. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2 as enemies and soldiers of the 8 Bits, the army led by Wart. They are named for flurries, which are brief snowfalls. They are the first Snowman species in the Mario series.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, Flurries are slippery enemies run along the ice chasing after Mario, but they have low traction on said ice, and can easily slip off an edge to their doom. They only appear in the icy land of Subcon.
Flurries are enemies in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2. They run along the ice chasing after Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad. Like them, they have poor traction on the ice and can slip off of the platform they are on. They only appear in World 4. In the rare instances that they can be led onto non-icy surfaces, such as the bottom of the second tower in World 4-3, they have perfect traction. In original releases, Flurries are entirely white, while in the Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Advance remakes, they are tinted pink and have blue feet.

Flurries are enemies in BS Super Mario USA. They make their return and play the same role as in the predecessor. They only appear in the third broadcast, which is also Subcon's icy area.
In the direct sequel of Super Mario Bros. 2, BS Super Mario USA, Flurries made their return and play the same role as in the prequel. They only appeared in the third world of the game, which is also the icy land of Subcon itself.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Flurries are enemies in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. They are encountered only in the World-e level Treacherous Halls. Two Flurries appear, and they are shown with the ability to pass over spikes harmlessly. Other than this, Flurries are the same as in their debut appearance.
Flurries made an appearance in the remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 for GBA. They appear in the accessible level Promo: Coro Coro Castle scanned by the E-reader. There are two of them, one of which can help Mario or Luigi pass through the spiky path via standing on their heads, and get the Brick Block and/or the Advance Coin. Strangely, these Flurries still move as if all surfaces are slippery ice blocks to them.

Some Flurries occasionally appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, where they spoke, despite not having visible mouths. Due to Wart not appearing on the show, they work for King Koopa here, and one (Flaky) even had a name. Staying true to the spirit of the games, Flurries only ever appeared in episodes that were set in snowy environments, such as the Land of Ice from "The Bird! The Bird!" and the North Pole from "Koopa Klaus."

Flurries make a cameo appearance in Super Princess Peach. Here they appear in the background of World 6, Gleam Glacier.
In the first installment of the Nintendo Comics Systems Dear Princess Toadstool feature, a Flurry writes to Princess Toadstool asking for help with people mistaking the snowflakes on his head for dandruff. She responds that his real friends would ignore the flakes, and that he should give strangers who make fun of him the "cold shoulder". Immediately below her reply has Luigi, as a barber, asking a Flurry if he wants to blow dry his "hair", with the Flurry telling Luigi to just melt his sideburns.

Notes
*Despite being an enemy in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, Flurry did not receive artwork in the manual until Super Mario Bros. 2. This is also the case for Tweeter and Spark.
*Flurry bears resemblance to wikirby, a mid-boss from wikirby, as they both are short, stubby snowmen without mouths or arms, have two small black eyes, and have similar body shapes, though Yuki lacks feet.
