Flipruses first appear in ''New Super Mario Bros. U'' and [[New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe|its Nintendo Switch port]], where they create snowballs and launch them at the players. They only appear in the secret level [[Fliprus Lake]] and [[World Coin-7]]. They behave similarly to [[Snow Spike]]s, but they launch their snowballs up much higher, their snowballs do not get bigger, and their snowballs can be [[jump]]ed on without taking damage. When they throw their snowballs, they will usually jump. Their snowballs will melt when they fall into the water and they can knock out enemies in their paths.

In ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', they appear as more common enemies. They appear in the levels [[Fliprus Floes]] and [[Hammerswing Hangout]].
