Flip the Chimp is a 4-Player and Duel minigame in Mario Party 8. It requires holding Wii Remote in a vertical position.
Flip the Chimp is a 4-Player and Duel minigame that is found in Mario Party 8.

Overview
Introduction
The minigame opens with a brief sequence of a coconut falling and hitting a mechanical Ukiki climbing a tree.
The camera moves around to show a Ferris wheel and a flying hot air balloon in the background. The Super Mario Bros. Ground Theme also plays but in carnival style. The camera then moves down to show an Ukiki hanging on a tree. A coconut falls on the Ukiki's head, making him scream and move down the tree. After that, the screen splits into four (two in the Duel version) sections, each containing an Ukiki hanging on a tree as well as a player standing beside it, and the minigame starts.

During gameplay, coconuts fall from either the left or the right side of the tree as the Ukiki climbs automatically. Players can have their Ukikis dodge incoming coconuts by shaking the controller to flip them, though it causes the Ukiki to stomp climbing briefly. If a coconut hits a Ukiki, it slides down, costing that player some time. The player whose Ukiki reaches the finish line first wins.
Gameplay
The players must hold the Wii Remote in a vertical position to play this minigame. The players control the Ukikis that are climbing the trees to the finish line marked by a red pennant banner. Coconuts fall down at either the left or the right side of the tree the Ukiki is climbing. The players must avoid them by switching their Ukikis to the other side of the trees. If a coconut hits an Ukiki's head, he moves forcefully down the tree, wasting some time to reach the finish line. The player who has their Ukiki reach the finish line first wins. It is possible to have multiple players win this minigame, and it is possible to tie in the Duel variant.

Multiple players can win the minigame, and even a tie can occur in the Duel variant. In both versions, if none of the Ukikis make it to the end within five minutes, the minigame ends in a tie.
Ending
The chimp comes down, and Ukikis cheer as the victor(s) do(es) (a) winning pose(s). In the Duel variant, if both players make their Ukikis reach the finish line, the camera cuts straight to the players, who face the screen and do their losing animations.

Notes
*A carnival rendition of the ground theme from Super Mario Bros. plays in the opening sequence.
*There is a Koopa Troopa that cannot be seen during gameplay, in a Ferris wheel, and the lower part of its body is undermodeled.
*Coconuts can still hit Ukikis when the minigame ends, but do not slide them down.
