The player must move {{iw|fireemblem|Chrom}} to a space adjacent to {{iw|fireemblem|Victor (Awakening)|Victor}} and attack. Chrom is identified in the microgame's user interface with the color blue, while Victor is identified with the color red.
The player must move {{iw|fireemblem|Chrom}} fast enough to fight and defeat {{iw|fireemblem|Victor (Awakening)|Victor}}. Occasionally, the player may receive a "Wait!" command, where the player must use the "Wait" command instead.

To start the game, press  {{button|3ds|A}} to select Chrom. To move, first move the cursor across the map with the {{button|3ds|Pad}}. Tapping a direction will move the cursor one space in that direction, and holding a direction will move the cursor more quickly. When the player presses {{button|3ds|A}} makes Chrom move to the space the cursor is selecting. The cursor cannot move into walls or spaces marked in red. The player can select the space with Chrom, which means Chrom does not move at all. After moving or not moving, the player has to select the action Chrom does. If Chrom is next to Victor, "Attack" is the only available action. Selecting "Attack" completes the microgame. While an animation shows Chrom attacking and defeating Victor, and it is followed by a "Complete!" banner, these animations are optional. If Chrom is not next to Victor, then the only action available is to "Wait". This does not end the mircogame. However, the moment the player selects a space that is not next to Victor to move to, or chooses to not move at all, the player will inevitably lose the microgame. This is because the player cannot move Chrom a second time, or choose to move Chrom after choosing not to move Chrom.
*'''1st level difficulty:''' Victor is the only character present.

*'''2nd level difficulty:''' One of Chrom's allies appears alongside Victor.
Occasionally, the game shows a "Wait!" command instead of the normal "Defeat the enemy!" command. Victor is not present, so the player cannot attack. Rather, the player wins this variation by moving or choosing to not move Chrom, then choosing the "Wait" command.
*'''3rd level difficulty:''' Two of Chrom's allies appear alongside Victor.

*'''1st level difficulty:''' There are no walls and Victor is located next to a space that is a straight line from Chrom.
*'''2nd level difficulty:''' There is a wall, that is only three contiguous blocks in a straight line. Victor is no longer placed next to a space in a straight line from Chrom. and one of Chrom's allies appears. They are identified in the user interface with green, and are only a decoy to distract the player from Victor.
*'''3rd level difficulty:''' There is a wall, which has multiple blocks poking out from the straight line formation. Victor is again not located next to a space in a straight line from Chrom. Two of Chrom's allies appear.
