'''Fire & Ice''' is a [[Bros. Move]] in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Brothership]]''. The move is learned by [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]] during their second visit to [[Heatfreeze Island]], after they receive a [[Fire Flower]] and an [[Ice Flower]] from the guardians of the island.

This move is selected by moving {{button|switch|rightstick}} to the left. This will cause Mario and Luigi to use the Fire and Ice Flowers to transform into [[Fire Mario]] and [[Ice Mario|Ice Luigi]]. Pressing {{button|switch|x}} will make Mario throw a [[Fireball]], while pressing {{button|switch|y}} will make Luigi throw an [[Ice Ball]]. Fireballs can be used to melt frozen or ignite objects, while iceballs can be used to freeze objects or extinguish fires. Hitting an enemy with a fireball or iceballs will result in a [[First Strike]] that may inflict an enemy with [[Burn]] or [[Frozen|Ice]]. 

Later on in the game, the [[Great Conductor]] teaches Mario and Luigi how to use the [[Bro Bomb]] on [[Conductor Island]], which is executed by holding {{button|switch|x}} or {{button|switch|y}} to charge up a bomb of fire and ice. The Bro Bomb can be used to destroy huge boulders as well as the front door of [[Fortress Zokket]].

This ability is also used during the final battle. During the first phase, [[Reclusa]] continuously flees from the Bros., who ride a plug-shaped hoverboard hot on the fiend's heels. The Bros. can use their projectiles to negate the oncoming shots from enemies. When the Bros. catch up, Reclusa will charge up with either fire or ice, unleashing an attack that must be avoided by countering the element Reclusa is charging up with, before they blast the fiend with the [[Bro Bomb]]. Fire & Ice is also used when Luigi uses his [[Luigi Logic]] skill to have [[Snoutlet]] create another plug-shaped hoverboard they ride to enter Weeping Reclusa's maw. As with the first phase of the fight, the Bros. can negate the enemy's projectiles with the appropriate projectile.

*The sound effect for when Mario and Luigi activate this ability is the same sound effect used when getting a power-up in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]''. Additionally, the sound effects for throwing fireballs as [[Fire Mario]] and iceballs as [[Ice Mario|Ice Luigi]] are also reused from this game.
