Electroids are enemies in the Donkey Kong Country series. They appear as electric spheres with two beady eyes, being a deep purple in Donkey Kong Country Returns while displaying a bluish tint in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze to correspond to the game's arctic theme. Electroids are usually encountered in groups, forming electrical links between each other that damage the Kongs when touched.
Electroids are enemies which appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They resemble encaged spheres of electric matter with two eyes. Electroids can be seen levitating in mid-air, usually forming electrical bonds between members of the same species. This leads to the creation of plasma barriers, which are harmful to pass.

In Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Electroids are largely encountered in Factory levels, moving near gaps and narrow passages in the Kongs' path. They can generally not be defeated except if the Kongs throw a BuckBomb at one. In the level Switcheroo, Electroids hover in front of red and blue blocks, which appear in the background. When the Kongs activate switch platforms that an Electroid passes over, the enemy is pushed off-screen.
In Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Electroids are only present in the Factory area. Here, they are depicted as purple. They move near holes and narrow tunnels that the player(s) must pass. In Switcheroo, some Electroids hover in front of reversible walls initially seen in the background. The enemies can be pushed over and eliminated if said walls are extended out of their slots. They can also be defeated if a BuckBomb is thrown at them. Electroids drain one heart from the player(s)' health meter upon contact with the player(s).

They also appear in the Cloud level Robo Factory as an obstacle for Kongs not to activate the robot. The energy produced by Electroids activate some pistons that fall when they pass through these, which can damage the Kongs.

Electroids return in only one level of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Frozen Frenzy. They gain a bluish tint, in step with the arctic theme of the game. Some Electroids can be found under platforms and vines that have wires on them. When the Electroids touch a wire, they create a current of electricity through said objects, damaging the player(s) if they use them. Several such platforms and vines are lowered by the player(s) added weight and create contact with an Electroid if lodged onto for too long. They are the only former enemies from the Factory to make another appearance in the game.
Electroids are the only enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (and its port) returning from the previous game's Factory world. They only appear in one level, Frozen Frenzy. They either hover in place or along a set path in midair. Some of them appear beneath platforms with wired vines on either side; tilting the platform too low on one side causes the corresponding wire to make contact with an Electroid, creating a current of electricity throughout the entire mechanism that can harm the Kongs.
