'''Electrodrome''' is the third race course of the [[Star Cup]] in ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]''. It is set in a neon-lit {{wp|nightclub}} filled with [[Koopa Troopa]]s, [[Shy Guy]]s, and [[Raving Piranha Plant]]s. Banners with the Star Cup logo can be seen throughout the track, as well as some big screens displaying characters dancing, spectrum analyzers, and the [[Mario Kart TV|MKTV]] logo. The course's English name comes from "electro", a genre of music, and the suffix "-drome", meaning race course; it is so far the only race course in the ''Mario Kart'' series to have a one-word English name, and one of only two courses in general with this distinction (the other being [[N64 Skyscraper|Skyscraper]], a battle course from ''[[Mario Kart 64]]''). 

==Course layout==

The course starts directly in front of a [[Glide Ramp]]. After the racers glide down to the road below, there is a turn going left. Shortly after the turn, there is an anti-gravity area curving to a wall that soon splits into two roads, one pink and one green. In the area where the music changes, transparent squares of the road's color appear in the edge of the screen. The roads twist around each other before connecting. At the end of each road is a Glide Ramp leading to a large neon platform with the words "Star Cup" on it, as well as the cup’s logo. There is a small jump at the end of the platform and a left turn that leads to the finish line.

Many large screens throughout the whole course show two videos of dancing Koopa Troopas and Shy Guys, along with a silhouette of [[Larry]] as a disc jockey.<ref>{{file link|MK8 Electrodrome Alternate Screen.png|A frame of the second video shown in the giant screens of the Electrodrome}}</ref> During the countdown to the race, the large screen in the background shows a spectrum analyzer before switching to the dancing footage. The analyzer goes in that order: blue, yellow, red, and rainbow. This also makes Electrodrome one of six courses with an opening animation during the countdown, with the others being [[Twisted Mansion]], [[Mount Wario]], [[Bowser's Castle (Mario Kart 8)|Bowser's Castle]], [[Excitebike Arena]] and [[Piranha Plant Cove]]. Stylized [[? Block]]s can be seen around the course below some of the giant screens.

==Shortcuts==
*Players can cut off the turn before the anti-gravity section using a speed boost. This shortcut is best done with a [[Super Star|Star]]. 
*At the final left turn, players can cut through the rough section with a speed boost instead of taking the turn.

The staff ghost for this track is Larry on the [[Sport Bike]], with a time of 2:24.747. In ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' 200cc, the staff ghost is [[Roy Koopa|Roy]] with a time of 1:40.943.

==Music==
Like some courses from ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'' and ''[[Mario Kart 7]]'', the music has different layers depending on the location of the player. Driving on the parts of the course representing electronic instruments causes effects to be added to the music, and when racing through areas that feature a crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys, hand claps (as well as the Shy Guys' voices) become audible. This track has the most channels of music in the game, having eight different channels due to the base music, first place beats, electronic instruments, and the crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys. This number of music channels is tied with other tracks, including [[Music Park|<small>3DS</small> Music Park]].
