Their names are puns on the word "dynamite," an explosive substance. After Mario and company defeat [[Punchinello]] and obtain the third [[Star Piece (Super Mario RPG)|Star Piece]], they head to the back of the mines to look for Dyna and Mite. Here, they are found safe from harm, trying to push a [[Mine Cart|trolley]]. Dyna recommends that Mario and company ride the trolley out of the mines.
