The player can acquire it by going to [[Cubyrinth]] and meeting [[Birdo]], who tells [[Mario]] and [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] that she found the board. [[Yoshi]] quickly recognizes that it is his and asks Birdo to give it to him. However, Birdo says that only top athletes deserve this board, so Yoshi has to compete in a [[Dream Ski Cross|Ski Cross Racing]] mission. If Yoshi completes the mission, he gets his Drift Board back, which allows the player to compete in snowboard missions. The Drift Board is also needed to challenge [[Jet the Hawk|Jet]] in [[Deluxe Halfpipe]], [[Wario]] and [[Waluigi]] for the second time in [[Snowboard Cross]], and [[Bowser]] and [[Dr. Eggman]] for the third time in [[Extreme Snowboarding]].
