Dreamy Bowser is an enhanced form of Bowser and the final boss in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. He is created when Bowser inhales the shattered remains of the Dream Stone. While in this form, Bowser is much larger, glows with bright colors reminiscent of those of the late Dream Stone, and has objects resembling the Dream Stone on his head and stomach. "Dreamy Bowser" is also the name for Bowser in the dream world, like Dreamy Mario, who Dreamy Luigi and Mario fought previously.

On the balcony of Neo Bowser Castle, Bowser appears in front of a caged Peach and reveals to the Mario Bros., Starlow and Dreambert his intentions with the Dream Stone. He begins to use it to erase the Mario Bros. from existence. Right before he is able to go further with his plan, Starlow and Peach use "the power of good thoughts" to interrupt his attack and destroy the Dream Stone upon Dreambert's insistence, but Bowser inhales the Dream Stone shards, still intending to get rid of Mario and Luigi. Although he regrets inhaling it (mentioning that the taste of the Dream Stone is "gross") and starts to cough and splutter, the Dream Stone's remains possess Bowser, turning him into Dreamy Bowser. With his new unlimited power and extra strength from the Dream Stone, Dreamy Bowser reveals his true intentions to kidnap Peach for himself, take over Pi'illo Island and eventually the entire world. The empowered Koopa King engages Mario and Luigi in combat.
When Bowser attempted to use the Dream Stone to erase the Mario Bros. from existence, Starlow and Peach used "the power of good thoughts" to interrupt his attack. At Dreambert's insistence, they then destroyed the Dream Stone to prevent Bowser from using it. However, Bowser inhaled the shards of the Dream Stone, which transformed him into Dreamy Bowser. Now possessing the unlimited power of the Dream Stone in addition to his own strength, the empowered Koopa King engaged Mario and Luigi in combat.

Upon defeat, Dreamy Bowser explosively expels the remains of the Dream Stone from his body and reverts to his normal form, albeit dazed from his power and weakened. The Mario Bros. then immediately take him out with their hammers, sending him flying and freeing Peach from her prison.

One of Dreamy Bowser's more common attacks involves shooting giant, rainbow-coloured fireballs, which the Bros. need to jump at the same time to avoid. He clones himself during this attack to shoot double the fireballs; each of the fireballs shot by the clones can only strike a single brother, but the clones fire slightly out of sync, making jumping more complicated for the heroic plumbers.

Dreamy Bowser in battle has 3 targets that can be attacked; his body, and both his left hand and right hand. The body includes his entire stomach and head region, with it taking critical damage from aerial attacks. Dreamy Bowser can only perform certain attacks and actions with his arms present. His right arm will block any attacks to his head, completely negating any damage and preventing aerial attacks. His left arm will periodically be used to grab a brother; the remaining brother cannot use Bros. Attacks as long as a brother is being held, and Dreamy Bowser will throw the brother either that turn or within a few turns if the left arm is still intact, forcing the remaining brother to catch the thrown brother by rapidly pressing their jump button to dash: the thrown brother will take damage every time he bounces off the ground. Dreamy Bowser will simply drop the bro if one bro is KO'd, his left arm is disabled, or if he uses his giant attack or summoning attack.
Dreamy Bowser can also create multi-coloured minions from portals to charge at the Bros; after summoning these enemies, Dreamy Bowser will retreat to the background, where he will heal his arms 200 HP and his body 150 HP every turn by eating endless piles of meat until the minions are destroyed. If the Bros. manage to avoid a sufficient number of his minions during an attack, Dreamy Bowser will also slam his fists into the ground to create a shockwave that must be jumped over, and eliminates any of the minions it hits.

Dreamy Bowser's main attacks are as follows:
A third attack begins with Dreamy Bowser summoning a giant hammer, which he subsequently tries to hit the brothers with; Dreamy Bowser will toss a coin with the Bros. initials on each side to reveal which brother will be attacked first, and thus which brother will first need to pull out his own hammer to stop Dreamy Bowser's hammer.

* Dreamy Bowser can shoot giant, rainbow-colored fireballs, which the Bros. need to jump at the same time to avoid. He clones himself part-way during this attack to shoot double the fireballs, where the fireballs shot now alternate between each Bro.

Dreamy Bowser can also create an Airship with Dreamy Shy Guys (called the Shy Guy Airtub DX) that will chase Luigi as the Bowser head of the Shy Guy Airtub DX fires flames at Luigi. While on said airship, Mario must repeatedly attack the Shy Guy Airtub DX after getting through the Dreamy Shy Guys with his hammer, while Luigi jumps over the fireballs it generates. The Shy Guy Airtub DX will go into the background if it either hits Luigi or survives this attack, and will shoot cannonballs every turn; the left cannon on the ship will shoot cannonballs at Mario, the right one fires at Luigi, and the middle one will simply not hit anyone. These cannonballs will damage the Shy Guy Airtub DX if successfully deflected with a hammer.

* Dreamy Bowser can summon a giant hammer, which he subsequently tries to hit the brothers with; Dreamy Bowser will flip a coin with the Bros'. initials on each side to reveal which brother will be attacked first, and the moment the coin lands on the initial, the selected Bro. must counter Dreamy Bowser's hammer strike with their own hammer. If the Bros. successfully counter the initial strike, then Dreamy Bowser will go for the other Bro., who must also hit him with their hammer to fend off the attack.
Another dangerous attack Dreamy Bowser may perform involves the Koopa becoming giant, forcing the Bros. to flee; Dreamy Bowser will soon start chasing them while spewing 3 massive streams of moving fire that must be jumped over, or the Bros. take massive damage. If the Bros. dodge the fire, Dreamy Bowser will jump and create a shockwave that also must be jumped over. Dreamy Bowser will then repeat the fire stream attack, but his second jump will end in his landing on one of Neo Bowser Castle's many sharp spires, deflating him back to normal size.

* Dreamy Bowser can become giant sized, forcing the Bros. to flee into the foreground. Dreamy Bowser will soon start chasing them while spewing three massive streams of moving fire that must be jumped over as he strafes left and right, or the Bros. take massive damage. If the Bros. dodge the fire, Dreamy Bowser will jump and create a shockwave that also must be jumped over. He will then repeat the fire stream attack, but his second jump will end in his landing on a sharp spire, deflating him back to normal size.
Dreamy Bowser's arms are very important in this battle, as he can only perform certain attacks and actions with his arms present. His left arm will periodically be used to grab a brother so the remaining bro. cannot use Bros. Note that Dreamy Bowser will drop the bro if one bro is KO'd, if he decides to turn giant or use an attack which requires both hands (i.e. summoning minions).

Dreamy Bowser can also create an Airship with Dreamy Shy Guys (called the Shy Guy Airtub DX) that will chase Luigi as the Bowser head of the ship fires flames at Luigi. While on said airship, Mario must repeatedly attack the Dreamy Shy Guys with his hammer to reach the bow where he can damage the Bowser head, while Luigi jumps over the fireballs it generates. If Mario takes too long to destroy the Airtub with the hammer, he will eventually be dropped off the ship and the Airtub will go into the background of the fight. Here, it will shoot cannonballs every turn; the left cannon on the ship will shoot cannonballs at Mario, the right one fires at Luigi, and the middle one will simply not hit anyone. These cannonballs will damage the Shy Guy Airtub DX if successfully deflected with a hammer. It can be hit with a Taunt Ball to initiate the chasing attack against Luigi, allowing the player another chance to destroy it. The Airtub will chase Mario instead if Luigi is KO'd or held captive by Dreamy Bowser.
His right arm is even more important, as it will prevent Dreamy Bowser's body from taking any damage from aerial attacks while it is still active. However, when it is destroyed, Dreamy Bowser takes critical damage from aerial attacks. The Bros. need to disable this arm if they want to attack Dreamy Bowser with any aerial attacks, including even strong ones such as Star Rocket.

Most attempts to attack Dreamy Bowser while he is in the background will result in the brother that initiated the attack being struck with lightning, unless the 'attack' was a Taunt Ball. Unusually for background enemies, using Taunt Balls on Dreamy Bowser or his Shy Guy Airtub DX causes them to perform a specific action, rather than just bringing them into the foreground.
Dreamy Bowser's last attack involves summoning an assortment of dreamy minions and moving to the background. Here, he will heal his arms 200 HP and his body 150 HP every turn by eating endless piles of meat until the minions are destroyed. His attack while in the background involves sending all the minions to charge at the Bros. two at a time, which include Dreamy Goombas that can jumped over or on, Dreamy Paratroopas that can be sent back at minions behind them, Dreamy Shy Guys that will jump over the Bros, and Dreamy Bob-ombs that will explode on contact. If the Bros. manage to avoid a sufficient number of his minions during this attack, Dreamy Bowser will also slam his fists into the ground to create a shockwave that must be jumped over, and eliminates any of the minions it hits. Throwing a Taunt Ball at Dreamy Bowser will cause him to jump into the foreground and chase the brothers through the minion crowd repeatedly; The Bros. must jump over or on the minions to avoid getting stepped on by Dreamy Bowser, who will also instantly KO minions upon contact. Dreamy Bowser will return to the main area if either all the minions are defeated, or after a few turns with less than 5 minions left.

Dreamy Bowser has the second highest stats of any mandatory boss in the Mario & Luigi games.
Throwing a Taunt Ball at the Shy Guy Airtub DX will cause it to repeat its opening attack at Dreamy Bowser's orders and then return to the background, defeating the normal purpose of using a Taunt Ball: however, Mario can potentially destroy the Airship during its attack if he's fast enough. Throwing a Taunt Ball at Dreamy Bowser will cause him to jump into the foreground and chase the brothers through the minion crowd, if enough of his minions are left. The Bros. must jump over or on the minions to avoid getting stepped on by Dreamy Bowser, who will also instantly KO minions upon contact. Much like the Shy Guy Airtub DX, Dreamy Bowser will return to the background after he either stomps on a brother or tramples most of his minions.

Trivia
Trivia
* Dreamy Bowser is the fourth final boss in the Mario and Luigi series that is an altered form of Bowser. The other final bosses are Bowletta from Superstar Saga, Shrowser from Partners in Time, and Dark Bowser in Bowser's Inside Story.
* The way Dreamy Bowser's arms are destroyed is similar to the battle with Queen Bean and Cackletta's spirit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Shadow Queen from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and the final boss battle with Giant Bowser in Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
** He is also the only one alongside Dark Bowser that doesn't have Bowser being possessed by another villain, and only the second (Shrowser being the first) to have Bowser's personality.
*An early design of Dreamy Bowser depicted him having a spiral on his belly instead of the Dream Stone-like object.
* Dreamy Bowser has the highest stats of any mandatory boss in the Mario & Luigi games, not counting Chakron. He also has the fifth highest health of any mandatory Mario & Luigi boss (third if the arms are counted, second if Elder Princess Shroob's head is only counted, and first if the arms and minions are counted, and if Elder Princess Shroob's head is, again only counted), beaten only by Princess Shroob, both of her sister's forms, and the preceding fight with Antasma (narrowly beating him out with 2435 HP compared to Dreamy Bowser's 2417), and even his son, Bowser Jr.. He also has the highest POW of all enemies, he is even higher than Bowser Jr. even though his level is lower than his son's. (Bowser Jr. is the second highest POW, 512)
* The way Dreamy Bowser's arms can be destroyed is similar to the battle with Queen Bean in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and the final boss battle with Giant Bowser in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Interestingly, both Sticker Star and Dream Team have Bowser becoming the main antagonist and final boss, and being empowered by a wish-granting artifact, and both were released for the Nintendo 3DS.
