Unlike previous games, they do not take place in locations from the ''Mario'' and ''Sonic'' series. Instead, elements from those series are placed in the event instead (ex., In 100m Freestyle Swimming Plus, a Thwomp creates waves that need to be avoided on the first length and can be ridden on in the second length). Unlike Dream Events which are named "Dream Race" for example, each Plus Event isn't named "Plus 100m," instead it is named "100m Plus."
