The '''Double Jump''' (also known as the '''Midair Jump''') is a move that appears in [[Genre#Platform games|platform games]]. It allows for a character to [[jump]] while being in midair, which is a state that characters are usually unable to jump from. Generally, the move is used by pressing the jump button when the player's character is not touching the ground. Despite what the name implies, a character does not need to jump off the ground in order to double-jump afterward; players are allowed to walk directly off a [[platform]] and then double-jump. Under most circumstances, only a single Double Jump can be performed between leaving the ground and landing on the ground, but there are some exceptions to this rule.

Though Double Jumps are uncommon in ''[[Super Mario (franchise)|Super Mario]]'' franchise, certain techniques are comparable to it, such as the [[Flutter Jump]] and [[spin]], because they allow a character to rise higher into the air while already airborne.
