Due to the chaos falling upone the Mushroom Kingdom, many strange creatures are born from this event, including this: a [[Thwomp]]-faced fish, in reference to the odd-looking mermaids from Japanese folklore, the {{wp|Ningyo}}.


[[Mario]], [[Luigi]], [[Yoshi]], and [[Birdo]] meet the Dossunmengyo while traversing a desert. They try to drink from an oasis lake, only to be attacked by the Dossunmengyo, armed with a fork and fire breath. They escape unharmed, due to the monster not being able to leave the water, and it is never seen again.
