Doogans are dog-like creatures in the Paper Mario series. The badge shop owner Rowf and his son Rhuff, who can be found in east Toad Town in Paper Mario, are the first Doogans to make an appearance. However, they are the only ones of their kind found in the game. The species had no name until Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which also portrayed most Doogans as thugs that frequented Rogueport and the Glitz Pit.
Doogans are a canine race that have appeared exclusively in the Paper Mario series. Most have brown fur and either black, yellow, orange, or green hair, though at least one has blue fur and pinkish-purple hair.  Doogans first appeared in Paper Mario, where Rowf and Rhuff sold badges in east Toad Town.  Doogans were much more prevalent in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the first time their species was named, and its remake on the Nintendo Switch. They are amongst the most common residents of Rogueport and Glitzville, alongside Bob-ombs, Toads, Little Mousers, and other species. Most Doogans have a tough attitude, and several enjoy watching fights in the Glitz Pit.
