In the game, he is trying to help [[Mario]] recover from [[Bean Fever]] in [[Little Fungitown]]. However since he doesn't have the medicine he sends [[Luigi]] on a quest to get [[Crabbie Grass]]. Once Luigi gets it, Mario is recovered.

Another Toad doctor appears in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time]]'', this time in the present [[Peach's Castle]]. He only appears in the beginning taking care of the fainted [[Toadsworth]]. Once again, this Toad doesn't have medicine and sends [[Mario]] on a quest to get a [[Refreshroom]].

Dr. Toad or at least a similarly dressed Toad appears in the 1991 [[Club Nintendo]] comic "[[Süße Weihnachten]]". Here he detects [[Bowser]] suffering from stomachache and assigns [[Dr. Mario]] to help him. In ''[[The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3]]'' there is also a character named [[Mushroom Doctor]] although Dr. Toad and Mushroom Toad do not resemble each other at all.
