Dark Satellmites are dark enemies that assist the Dark Star in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. Part of their name is a portmanteau of "satellite" and "mite," a small bug. A stronger version of them, Dark Satellmite X, appears in the battle against Dark Star X in the Gauntlet.

Dark Satellmites are dark enemies that assist the Dark Star during the events of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. When fighting Mario and Luigi, they will shoot lasers at the plumbers, but can easily be dodged by jumping. Sometimes, the Dark Satellmites will jump themselves, so their attacks are dodged by not jumping. When they are defeated, they start flashing a red color. When the Dark Star attacks next, it gives a bomb to the defeated Dark Satellmite, which then jumps high in the air and lands towards the brothers. Both the Dark Satellmite bounce in front of the brothers. The player should watch for the Dark Satellmite, so either Mario/Luigi can hammer it back at Dark Star to weaken its defenses, eventually exposing it to attack. The bomb is essentially a decoy, which damages whichever brother hits it. It is possible to hold down both A and B to hit both the Dark Satellmite, weakening the Dark Star, and the bomb, taking damage.

When fighting Mario and Luigi, Dark Satellmites shoot lasers at them, but the lasers can easily be dodged by jumping. Sometimes, the Dark Satellmites jump themselves, so their attacks are dodged by not jumping. When they are defeated, they start flashing a red color while looking dazed (turning into an inactive Dark Star ball in the remake). When the Dark Star attacks next, it gives a bomb (an electric sphere in the remake) to the defeated Dark Satellmite, which then jumps high in the air with it and then lets go. Both the bomb and the Dark Satellmite fall towards the Mario Bros., who must use their hammers to hit the Dark Satellmite back at the Dark Star, doing damage and causing its spines to retract. After two Dark Satellmite hits, the Dark Star falls to the ground for a few turns and can be damaged, making defeating the Dark Satellmites an integral part of the battle. The bomb the Dark Satellmite drops when it falls is merely a decoy; if Mario or Luigi hammers it, it will simply blow up in his face and do damage.

The "Dark Satellmite X" appears in the Gauntlet as an enemy assisting "Dark Star X" in Class 6. Like the Dark Star X, it has almost twice its original form's power, defense, speed, and HP.
