Cranky Kong's Shop is a shop run by Cranky Kong in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch ports. It serves as the successor to Cranky's Cabin from Donkey Kong Country, which according to Cranky himself, is due to his pension having been revoked.
Cranky Kong's Shop is a shop run by Cranky Kong in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its Nintendo 3DS remake, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. It serves as the successor to Cranky's Cabin from Donkey Kong Country, which according to Cranky himself, is due to his pension having been revoked.

There is a shop in each world, although they all carry the same selection of goods at the same prices. They sell items in exchange for Banana Coins. Once purchased, the items can be equipped from the Inventory menu before entering a level. Most of what Cranky sells is optional, in that they only help the player complete the other levels and more easily collect items. The shop does sell a different Map Key in each world though, which opens up an alternate path on the Level Selection Screen in the world, allowing the player(s) to access an additional level. Completing every level is required for 100% completing the game, indirectly making the Map Key required. In New Mode of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Modern Mode of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, there are three more items the player can buy. In addition, after beating the game the player can purchase the Rare Orb in each world from the corresponding shop. A world's Rare Orb is normally only rewarded for beating the world's Key Temple level.
There is a shop in each of the eight worlds, although they all carry the same selection of goods at the same prices. Many useful items can be purchased at these shops in exchange for Banana Coins. Although most of what Cranky sells is not mandatory, he does sell a key in each world, which will open up an alternate path on the map, allowing the player(s) to access additional levels. This is required for completing the game by 100 percent.

Cranky refuses to sell Red Balloons to the player(s) if the purchase would put the player(s) over the maximum of 99 balloons. Likewise, if the player(s) buy a key, they cannot purchase it again. This is also true for Rare Orbs the player has, be they purchased or obtained from their level.

As with previous games, Cranky will sometimes complain about his situation such as needing Banana Coins, being stuck in a shack, or how the game is "too hard" for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Hovering over items prompts Cranky to talk about it. He makes one comment each time the player purchases an item, based on the item in question. They are often snide remarks. He has a quip when entering or leaving the shop, some of which are based on the world the shop is in. Some of these are advice, and others allude to the Golden Temple.

The shop is replaced by Funky's Fly 'n' Buy in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, due to Cranky Kong becoming a playable character.
The levels that the keys unlock are

1-4 Sunset Shore
2-6 Blowhole Bound
3-4 Damp Dungeon
4-4 Mole Patrol
5-6 Springy Spores
5-7 Wigglevine Wonders
6-5 Precarious Plateau
7-3 Handy Hazards
8-4 Smokey Peak

He often makes snide remarks about the items purchased by the player(s), and frequently alludes to the Golden Temple. If the player(s) currently have a maximum number of 99 lives, Cranky refuses to sell a Red Balloon to them. Likewise, if the player(s) buy a key, they cannot purchase it again.
