The Courtyard is the first room of Area Three in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. The Courtyard has many crooked dead trees spread throughout it. Following this, from left to right, there is a statue resembling Slim Bankshot, a large fountain with plants that can be watered for treasure and hearts, a well, a birdhouse, an old cabin, and another statue. An audio clip of Mario saying "Hey, Luigi! What's the hold-up?" is heard very faintly. Luigi can optionally catch the ghosts to turn on the lights and spawn a chest with treasures. A Toad is inside of an old cabin, and he tells Luigi to visit the Bottom of the Well, in addition to saving the player's game progress. Mario's Letter is contained inside of a birdhouse.

In the Hidden Mansion of the remake, the chest contains Mario's Glove, while Mario's Letter is found in The Twins' Room instead.
The Courtyard is accessed after defeating Bogmire. When first entering the Courtyard, Flying Fish and (despite there being no ceilings) Ceiling Surprises and Purple Bombers can be found here, but can be sucked up to return the lights to the Courtyard. A Toad can be found nearby in an old cabin. This Toad saves Luigi's progress and tell him to go to the Bottom of the Well. On the way, Luigi inspected a birdhouse, which spat out Mario's Letter, the second item he would need to take to Madame Clairvoya.

Ghosts
The Courtyard has many statues in it, and crooked trees are found all around it. The Courtyard also hosts a large fountain in the middle of it, which Luigi can suck up Water Elemental Ghosts from. Four plants around the fountain can be watered for Hearts and money.
