These hen-like creatures drop egg-like bombs that explode after a few seconds. They are orange and black in appearance and have the ability to fly. A well-aimed Star Bit can bring them to the ground for the player to defeat. They are found only in the Dusty Dune Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy and the Slipsand Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They succeed the Plurp from Super Mario Sunshine. |

| ===Super Mario Galaxy===
| |
| Cluckbooms first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, appearing exclusively in the Dusty Dune Galaxy. Like Plurps, they fly high over the ground, but every so often gradually lay an egg-like bomb that explodes after a few seconds. Additionally, they follow Mario rather than flying in passive loops like Plurps do. They alert the player to the bomb by making a loud squawk when it drops. A high Spin or a Star Bit can momentarily stun them and bring them to the ground for the player to defeat. Their spiky combs protect them from stomps while they fly, though they can be safely stomped when stunned, as well as spun or simply kicked. One is found flying over a flowing river of sand and gets carried along it if it falls onto it. Another follows Mario up an extended elevator sequence, flying away at the end if it is not defeated.

| Cluckbooms return in Super Mario Galaxy 2, acting the same as before. They are now found in the Slipsand Galaxy. Unlike in the previous game, Cluckbooms that fall onto flowing sand are not carried along it.
