Plot synopsis[edit]
At Club Mario, Tommy and his friend Co-MC are on the rooftop, with the latter holding a long, pointed metal rod. After introducing themselves to the viewer, the former then tells them that they are using the rod to get rid of the pigeon nests, as the pigeons have been bothering them by defecating on the rooftop, with Co-MC mentioning that one of them defecated on his hat as well. He then tells the audience that they have "killer guests" and a "gnarly cartoon," with the latter giving a summary of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Bird! The Bird!" Tommy and Co-MC then proceed to "satellite surf" to Big Kid Theater, which stars its titular character, Big Kid.
In the show, Big Kid says that "[he's] the only thing that's bigger than Texas," before changing the channel to a clip of Tarzan the Ape Man, featuring its titular character, Tarzan, saving a woman who a swimming away from an alligator that is chasing her. The clip ends with the woman asking Tarzan for his name, with Big concluding his show by reminding his viewers to "always bram the outside of a cow."
After his show ends, Tommy praises Big Kid, saying that he has such a great job being a television personality, though he later realizes that he and Co-MC have great jobs as well, themselves being television personalities. He then asks the viewer if they remember Yomega Man, the "ultimate yo-yo artist," on their show. He then informs them that he is back on his and Co-MC's show, and that he is going to perform more tricks for them.
Yomega Man first performs an "around the universe" trick, which consists of him spinning his yo-yo clockwise four times. He performs the "super brain twister" next, which consists of him spinning his yo-yo in front of him with his left index finger while holding it by his right middle finger. He then performs the "rock the baby in the cradle" trick, consisting of allowing his yo-yo to swing in front of him while holding it in a cradle-like position. Afterwards, he performs the "stop and go", which is similar to the "super brain twister," except that he allows the yo-yo to retract while hanging downwards, before yanking it back to allow it to hang downwards again. For his peniultimate trick, he performs the "man on the flying trapeze," consisting of him launching his yo-yo to his left, followed by grabbing his string with his right index finger, holding the yo-yo precariously. For his final trick, he arranges his yo-yo's string into a representation of the Union Jack. Tommy walks up to Yomega Man, thanking him for his performance, and asks Co-MC what he thinks about him. Co-MC agrees that he is the actual Yomega Man, but mentions that it is time for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
After the animated episode, Co-MC welcomes the viewer to another edition of "Are You Bogus?", where they will interview a man who claims to be Elvis Presley, who Tommy met in Wisconsin flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant. Tommy, believing him, asked him to come to their studio. Co-MC believes that Tommy is joking about having met Elvis, to which he insists that the man sitting next is the singer himself. He then asks the man's name, which he responds with "Elvis." Co-MC, still skeptical, mentions that Elvis's sideburns were at least one inch longer and two inches wider, though Tommy defends the man, saying that he could have shaved. He then asks the man to sing a song to him, with the man singing "Viva Las Vegas," one of Elvis's popular songs. Co-MC finally mentions that the man is not Elvis: Elvis is dead. Tommy is surprised by this fact, saying that he is always the last to know, and calls the man "bogus." He then tells the man to leave which he promptly he does. He then rambles about how sure that he was Elvis Presley, before saying that "[he] has left the rooftop."
Later, Tommy and Co-MC briefly "satellite surf" to a channel describing how tigers get their prey, before "satellite surfing" back to their own show. Tommy mentions that they had a wonderful time on their show, with Co-MC mentioning it being Emmy Award-winning. They then summarize who was on their show, before bidding the viewer farewell and hoping the viewer will see them tomorrow, "where the airwaves are [their] waves."
Characters[edit]
- Tommy Treehugger
- Co-MC
- Big Kid
- Yomega Man
- Elvis Presley imposter
Notes[edit]
- Tommy mentioning that the Elvis Presley imposter has left the rooftop references that fact that, after a concert, Elvis fans remained in hopes of an encore, and staff at the locales in which the concert was held said that Elvis had left, hoping that this dispersed the crowd. Additionally, the entire "Are You Bogus?" segment itself references "Elvis lives," a discredited conspiracy theory that Elvis did not die in 1977, but only went into hiding and was still alive, based on alleged inconsistences with Presley's official death certificate.
