This level is a remake of [[World 1-2 (Super Mario Bros.)|World 1-2]] from the original ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' with several differences: Mario starts the level in the underground area rather than running into a pipe beforehand, all but the top row of Brick Blocks on the ground near the exit pipe are now Hard Blocks, the vertical pipe attached to the exit pipe was replaced by more blocks, the columns of Brick Blocks at the very start and end of the main area are replaced with terrain, the [[Piranha Plant]] in the goal area's pipe is gone, and all three Warp Pipes in the Warp Zone lead Mario to a room with a treasure chest containing a Fire Flower. Also, as with [[Classic World 1-1]], the Ace Coin replaces the top center coin in the shortened bonus room, and most of the Brick Blocks there also contain coins.
