Gameplay
Players have one chance to pick a rope on a giant inflatable ring that has a Cheep Cheep on it. There are twice as many ropes as players, and half of the ropes have Cheep Cheeps on them, while the other ropes do not. The objective is to pick a rope. If it has a Cheep Cheep, the player is safe (and, as a result, wins)—otherwise, the player falls into the water and loses. If more than one player wins, they still each earn coins (however, the minigame ends in a tie in the Duel version). If all players lose, the minigame ends in a tie. Although the minigame lets players choose a rope, this choice is actually an illusion, as whether each player will pull a Cheep Cheep or not is predetermined at the start of the minigame.
There are twice as much ropes as players. There are only as much ropes with cheep cheeps as players! However, you can't tell if a rope has a cheep cheep. This makes only luck essential for winning this minigame, hence the title. A player needs to grab a cheep cheep to win.

Controls
It should not be confused with the Mario Party 3 minigame Cheep Cheep Chase.
