The name Chap can refer to either of two inhabitants of Flipside who appear in Super Paper Mario. The reason for them having the same name is unknown (as they are clearly distinguishable from each other), and neither have a large role in the game.

Chap is an inhabitant of Flipside who appears in Super Paper Mario. In the PAL version of the game, this character is called Glim. The word "chap" is a slang term for a male person, and is used for another character as well, who is also from the same game. This may in fact be riffing on the fact that everything this Chap thinks of has either already happened, or (in terms of literacy) has been taken, including his own name. This Chap's counterpart in Flopside is the ever-lovesick Slim, another character whose name is used twice in the game.
The first Chap can be found on the second floor of Flipside. He greatly enjoys peace, commonly ranting on Flipside's enjoyable prosperity. However, he eventually grows tired of peace, wishing for more out-of-the ordinary events to happen. (Ironically, every "unusual" event he thought of had already happened to Mario and the other heroes, and the events occasionally even happened in "peaceful" Flipside itself.) By the end of the game, he repeats his typical lines about loving peace, claiming shortly afterward that he still does find peace "all you can really ask out of life," though it is implied that he was still bored of it. Chap is additionally stated by Tippi and Tiptron to have dreams of becoming an author, though all of his book ideas had apparently previously been done. This Chap's counterpart in Flopside is the ever-lovesick Slim, who strangely has no naming or personality similarities with Chap, indicating that one of the characters (perhaps most likely Chap, considering that his name is claimed by two Flip-Flop Folk) was misnamed. His name might actually be a joke name coinciding with the other Chap in that almost everything thinks of has either already happened, or (in terms of literacy) been taken, and that even his name is not original. In the PAL version of the game, this character is called Glim, which is closer to his counterpart's name "Slim".

Chap can be found on the second floor of Flipside. He greatly enjoys peace, commonly ranting on Flipside's enjoyable prosperity. As the game progresses, he eventually grows tired of peace, wishing for more out-of-the ordinary events to happen; coincidentally, every "unusual" event he thinks of has already happened to Mario and the other heroes, occasionally even in "peaceful" Flipside itself. By the end of the game, he returns to his typical lines about loving peace, claiming shortly afterwards that he still does find peace "all you can really ask out of life". Chap is additionally stated by Tippi and Tiptron to have dreams of becoming an author, but all of his book ideas have apparently already been done.
The second Chap thinks very highly of milk, and can be found constantly slurping up the substance at his table in The Underwhere (bar). According to Tippi and Tiptron, Chap arrives at The Underwhere each morning at noon and stays for the remainder of the day, drinking milk in an attempt to quench his apparently perpetual thirst. (This is not literal; players can encounter Chap earlier than noon.) He apparently enjoys joking that milk flows through his veins, a series of jokes he once secretly took seriously and approached a doctor about. Throughout the course of Super Paper Mario, all Chap does is talk about his love for milk. This Chap's Flopside counterpart is Chip, who coincides Chap's milk obsession with his own coffee-drinking habits (and even mirrors Chap's quirk of arriving at a store serving his favorite drink each noon and staying there for the rest of the day).

Trivia
*"That's Chap... He's an imaginative young man... He wants to be an author...but all of his ideas have been done before..."
*The word "chap" is a slang term for a male person. Perhaps interestingly, this namesake of Chap's is actually used elsewhere in Super Paper Mario, such as in Flamm's nickname "the Map Chap."
