| | A Chance Cube is a item that appears in the Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are found in numerous levels and one can be found on the surface of Starship Mario and near below his right ear. Chance Cubes are depicted as a cube with pictures of a 1-Up Mushroom, a coin, a Star Bit, and Bowser's face. When stationary, it will just be floating in place. When Mario hits it, the cube will fly back and land in a similar fashion to a die. Whatever picture is face up is what Mario will earn. As the name implies, the object is entirely based on luck and Mario could skip the object if he wants to. If a 1-Up Mushroom is shown, Mario will earn a 1-Up Mushroom. If a coin is depicted, Mario will win 10 coins. If a Star Bit is depicted, Mario will earn a single Star Bit. However, if Bowser's face shows up, Mario will need to battle an enemy, usually a Goomba. There is also a Luma Shop in Starship Mario found in a warp pipe next to the ship's "ear" once certain tasks are complete that allows Mario to feed 30 Star Bits to the Luma to roll a Chance Cube that can give up to five 1-Up Mushrooms at once. Later on there is another one that will allow Mario to roll 5 for 100 coins. |

| Chance Cubes are items that appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are found on Starship Mario and in several galaxies, usually in bonus rooms. Chance Cubes resemble dice, but each side shows either a 1-Up Mushroom, a coin, a Star Bit, or Bowser's emblem. When Mario or Luigi hits one, the cube flies back and lands in a similar fashion to a Dice Block. Whatever image is facing up determines what Mario or Luigi earns. If a 1-Up Mushroom is shown, Mario or Luigi earns a 1-Up Mushroom. If the coin side is facing up, the block bursts into ten coins. If the Star Bit side is facing up, Mario or Luigi earns a single Star Bit. However, if the Bowser emblem shows up, a Goomba appears.

| | | *Rolling into one as Rock Mario, along with shooting one with a Star Bit, will also activate it. |
| Chance Cubes can be accessed on Starship Mario via two Lumalees in a Warp Pipe next to the ship's "ear," once certain tasks are complete. Their Chance Cubes are different, allowing Mario or Luigi to get either a Star Bit or one, three, or five 1-Up Mushrooms. One Lumalee asks for 30 Star Bits to transform into one cube; the other one asks for 100 coins to transform into five cubes.
| | *When activating the first one inside Starship Mario, spinning right as it spawns seems to better the chances of getting five 1-Up Mushrooms. |
| | | *When rolled, the player will hear a snare drum roll, ended by a cymbal crash once it has landed on an image. |
| The Co-Star Luma can also spin Chance Cubes. Rolling into one as Rock Mario, burning it with a fireball as Fire Mario, hitting it with a double kick, rolling a snowball towards it, or shooting one with a Star Bit also activates it, as does riding Yoshi and doing a Head Shake. Moreover, if Mario or Luigi uses a spin on the cube when it is still rolling, it stops instantly, making it easier to get the desired item. This technique can even cause the cube to stop in midair with precise timing.
| | *The Chance Cubes on Starship Mario can't make enemies appear |

| | *If you land on the Bowser face, you would hear the Bowser laugh and an enemy would appear. |
| | | *After a cube has landed on its side, the whole cube's faces would become the same as the one face-up (Example: Bowser face up, Other faces have a Bowser picture too.) |

| ==Trivia==
| |
| *When a Chance Cube is rolled, the player hears a snare drum roll, ended by a cymbal crash once it has landed on an image. The longer it takes for the picture to reveal (an example being when it is rolling down a big hill), the longer the snare drum roll sound is and the later the cymbal crash is heard. However, the faster it reveals, the shorter the sound and the sooner the cymbal crash sound is heard. Sometimes a few snare drum beats can be heard when the player spins multiple Chance Cubes, during the drum roll sound. | |
| *The Super Mario Galaxy 2 Prima Guide calls the Chance Cubes found in galaxies Lucky Cubes.
