| Chain Chomplets, also referred to as Chain Chompers, are young Chain Chomps (or relatives of them) owned by a female bright red Pianta at Pianta Village in Super Mario Sunshine. They behave similarly to their parent species, but they make a noise that sounds like a puppy barking. Chain Chomplets are made up of two spherical sections with a collar dividing each part, and their chains appear to be their tails; contrarily, the head is the only part of a Chain Chomp's body. Chain Chomplets are of a silver color when permanently cooled off, orange when angry, and black when temporarily calmed by a Water Barrel or FLUDD. While angry, Chain Chomplets leave a trail of burning goop and have small flames on their chains.

|
| |
|
| Chain Chomplets are the focus of Episode 1, where Mario has to calm them with water from FLUDD, since the Chain Chomplets are fevered. Once that is done, their tails can be grabbed. Releasing the tail slingshots the Chain Chomplet, hopefully into the river where they will cool off completely. If the player waits too long, the Chain Chomplets will fire back up. | | A Chain Chomplet is a sub-species of a Chain Chomp that only appears in Super Mario Sunshine. It has a personality like their main species, but they look different in appearance. They appear to be young creatures with two spherical sections and a collar dividing them. Chomplets seem to live at Pianta Village in Isle Delfino, a female red pianta owns them. |
|
| |
|
| Chain Chomplets gradually hop along the paths in the village and normally ignore Mario. However, if they are sprayed by FLUDD, they will lunge at him.

| |
|
| Chain Chomplets might be related to the Chain Chomp in Episode 4, since it must be calmed and cooled in a similar fashion. Like with the Chain Chomplets, this Chain Chomp's color changes when it is placed in a pool of water. | | Chain Chomplets are in the first episode of Pianta Village. In the episode, you have to calm down the fevered chain chomps. To complete the episode you must cool them off with F.L.U.D.D. and grab there tails to lunge them into a river. |

| |
| *In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Golf: Advance Tour, Chomplet's name can be seen in the score chart.
| |
| *The shark-like faces of the Chain Chomplets with the small lower jaw are shared with that of Kyankyan as well as MLSS+BM Art - Chain Chomp.png in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, but not the game's sprites.
| |
| *Chain Chomplets share their Japanese name with Kyankyan, as well as CiaoCiao and ChowChow, two small Chain Chomp characters who appear in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
