| Mother '''cats'''<ref>{{cite|author=Play Nintendo|date=May 6, 2023|url=https://youtu.be/W2Z-oGuT88A?t=136|title=Marioโs Cat-Tastic Day ๐ช <nowiki>| All about Cat Mario Ep 1 |</nowiki> โช@playnintendoโฌ|publisher=YouTube|accessdate=July 12, 2024}}</ref> are the parents of calico [[kitten]]s in the ''[[Bowser's Fury]]'' campaign of ''[[Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury]]''. Three different cats appear throughout [[Lake Lapcat]], with one being found near each of the three [[Giga Bell]]s. When [[Mario]] first encounters one, she is shown crying because her kittens have gone missing. The cat by the Lakeside Giga Bell has one kitten, the cat by the Ruins Giga Bell has three, and the cat by the Wasteland Giga Bell has five. Similarly to the mission "[[Li'l Penguin Lost]]" in ''[[Super Mario 64]]'', Mario must find the calico kittens within the cat's region and carry each one back to her. A counter over the cat's head signifies how many kittens are left to be returned. For each kitten other than the last that is returned to its cat, Mario earns three [[coin]]s, and after returning the last kitten, he earns a [[Cat Shine]] as a reward. Afterwards, the cat can be seen smiling and purring with her kittens instead of crying. If Mario leaves the area and returns, both the cat and her kittens will disappear, except for the group by the Wasteland Giga Bell, which will remain permanently. If Mario or [[Bowser Jr.]] attack a cat, she does not take damage, and confetti appears instead.

| Like their kittens, cats become corrupted while [[Fury Bowser]] is active, and attack Mario if he approaches them. They remain larger than their kitten counterparts, but otherwise act the same. | | '''Calico cat parents''' are the parents of the calico [[kitten]]s found in [[Lake Lapcat]] in ''[[Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury#Bowser's Fury|Bowser's Fury]]''. Three different parents appear in the game, each one found near each of the three [[Giga Bell]]s. When [[Mario]] encounters one, it is seen crying due to its kittens having gone missing. Similar to the mission "[[Li'l Penguin Lost]]" in ''[[Super Mario 64]]'', Mario is required to return the calico kittens to their respective parents (found within the same region) by carrying them back to them. Upon doing so for each parent, Mario earns a [[Cat Shine]]. The parent by the Lakeside Giga Bell has one kitten, the parent by the Ruins Giga Bell has three, and the parent by the Wasteland Giga Bell has five. |
| | ย |
| | Like the kittens, while [[Fury Bowser]] is active, calico cat parents turn into [[Fury Cat|dark versions]] of themselves that attack Mario. |
|
| |
|
| The color scheme of the [[Calico Parafoil]] in ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'' is similar to the colors of cats.
