Captain Goomba is an oversized Goomba in Mario Party 8. He appears at the end of Goomba's Booty Boardwalk. Like his name says, he is a captain of a ship. He will give any character that comes to him in the game a star. He also has a few Pirate Goombas.

In Star Battle, he will still give the character a star, however only if the character brought fifty coins. In this mode getting a star is the key to winning the battle-however if the player shows up with less than 50 coins, Captain Goomba will send him or her back to the start.

Captain Goomba also has a team of Pirate Goombas which are Goombas with green pirate bandannas. They appear also in Goomba's Booty Boardwalk near the end of the trail to get a Star in a ? Space. If a player lands on their ? space, the three Goombas will exclaim that "landlubbers" are not allowed to meet their captain, and are only worthy to be cannon fodder. Upon shouting the above statement, the Pirate Goombas immediately surround the character, load them into a cannon, and blast the player back to start.
Captain Goomba is a Grand Goomba who wears a pirate hat and appears as a non-playable character in Mario Party 8. He appears at the end of Goomba's Booty Boardwalk and gives players a free Star if they reach him. As his name implies, he is a captain of a ship and has a few pirate Goombas serving under him.

Captain Goomba's role is slightly tweaked in the Star Battle Arena. In this mode, he still gives arriving characters a Star, but they must pay him 50 coins. Whoever gets the Star from him first before their opponent does wins. However, if a player arrives with less than 50 coins, Captain Goomba lets them roll a Coin Block for a chance of winning 1, 5, or 10 coins, and then commands his crew of pirate Goombas to take them back to the start using a cannon.
Trivia
* Captain Goomba's voice sounds like a Pink Bob-omb.
* The Cap'n might actually be captain Goomba.
