He accidentally shocks [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], [[Princess Peach|Princess Toadstool]], and [[Toad]] when he first sees them, and afterwards describes his profession and the state of his town. When Toad asks for an assay of his gold coins from the mine, Calamity Clam is shocked by how genuine the gold coins were, quickly resulting in the ghost town to transform to a boom town.
