| | The cake was initially ordered by [[Booster]] for his wedding to [[Princess Peach]]. Chef Torte (with help from his apprentice) outdid himself, and created the world’s greatest wedding cake, Bundt. However, [[Mario]] interrupted the wedding and rescued Peach. When Chef Torte realized the wedding has ruined, the [[Koopa Troopa|Koopa]] cook became irate. He slaved for hours creating the cake, and now the wedding for which it was to be admired and eaten was destroyed. |
| During this fight, the cake is the only object that can be damaged. After taking several hits, the cake starts to move. The apprentice tells Chef Torte, who ignores him. When the cake moves a second time, the Tortes retreat, and all five of the cake's candles light up. The cake's top and bottom layers, referred to as '''Bundt''' and '''Raspberry''' respectively, attack independently from each other, but only Bundt can be attacked at first. Bundt can only be defeated by hitting it with a physical attack once all five candles are extinguished. One candle is put out whenever Bundt is hit with a physical attack. However, Bundt can relight one candle each time it attacks. After being defeated, Bundt disappears, allowing Raspberry to be damaged. Once Raspberry's [[HP]] is depleted, [[Booster]] orders his [[Snifster]]s to take it and help him eat it up, ending the battle and [[Princess Peach]]'s wedding. In the remake, the cake can be fought again after defeating [[Smithy]]. During the battle, the Tortes light at least two of the cake's candles each turn, and the cake must be attacked with physical attacks to extinguish the candles. If all five candles are lit, the cake uses [[Celebration Shot]], which deals 9999 damage to all active party members.

Then the cake moved a second time, causing Torte and his apprentice to run for their lives. However, Mario stayed to fight the monster cake. To defeat the cake, Mario had to blow out all five of Bundt’s candles. Although the cake wielded impressive magical abilities, Mario and company were able to destroy Bundt. However, the defeat of Bundt was only half the fight. After Bundt was defeated, the top layers of cake disappeared. Unfortunately, the [[Raspberry]] base of the cake still remained, and it too was looking for a fight… Fortunatly, Booster's [[Snifit]] monions dared him to swallow it whole, which he does, with gusto.
