They are donut-shaped balloons that stay still in the air. When Mario jumps on one from above, it can bounce him higher similar to [[trampoline]]s and [[Note Block]]s; if Mario bumps into one from the side or below, it bounces Mario away. Enemies, objects, and projectiles are not affected by Bumpers and will freely pass through them.

In the ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' game style, Bumpers are striped light and dark green, with eyes similar to that of [[Mr. Eraser]].
