This is a luck-based minigame. The players take turns pressing down the switches connected to a massive Bowser [[bomb]]. After a player presses a switch, the game decides whether they are safe or not. If steam comes out of the bomb's "nostrils," then the player is safe and moves to the end of the line. However, if the wrong switch is pressed, then the bomb's eyes count down from three, eliminating the player when it explodes. The process repeats until there is only one player left, and that player is declared the winner. There are five switches in different colors: red, pink, yellow, green, and white. Each time a player is eliminated, the number of switches will decrease by one until there are only three left. If everyone presses down a switch that does not set off the bomb, then a new set of switches appears.
In ''Mario Party 4'', this version includes the Rumble Feature, the music no longer stops after a player presses a switch, and the bomb is now made of glass and makes a less cartoonish blast when it explodes. The player can also change their mind once about which switch to press by letting go of {{button|gcn|r}}.
In ''Mario Party: The Top 100'', the explosion of the bomb is more detailed. The characters also breathe a sigh of relief if the bomb does not explode or take cover if it does. | In ''Mario Party: The Top 100'', the explosion of the bomb is more detailed. In ''Mario Party Superstars'', along with the animations added in ''The Top 100''{{'}}s variant being present here as well, the characters now hold their breath after they choose a switch. Also, if they choose a wrong switch, the bomb emits electricity and turns bright white when it explodes, and it also takes a slightly longer time to explode than the previous installments. The player who sets off the bomb also panics before it explodes. The characters also vocalize whenever they press a switch.
